New Member Introduction from So Cal

  • Hello, everyone!
I'm a new member to the forum, and I look forward to quality discussions here. My name is Byron, and I have a long history in the ocean. I grew up in Huntington Beach, where I was a Jr. Lifeguard and then a Lifeguard, as well as competitive swimmer through college. My earliest dives were in JG's, taking a surf mat out and going clam diving! Bummer those beds are gone.

I enjoy free diving and spearing equally. My first fish speared was a corbina at 13 years old, off thousand steps (a loooong time ago). I'm fortunate to have several good friends to dive with, including my buddy Brandon (bward), Carla Hanson (who regularly kicks my butt in the pool) and a few others. I've had the pleasure of diving Capt. Leo's boat a few times, I'm FII Level 2 certified, and am looking forward to November's Kona camp (if anyone else is going, feel free to hit me up).

All this and I still suck at diving! :( If anyone wants to do local dives, feel free to PM me. I'm also trying to video a few things, but my camera work also sucks!

Cheers, and I look forward to future dives and friendship.

  • Great to have you Byron, good seeing you at the meeting the other night. Sorry my hearing is so jacked up and have to keep asking for word repeats. We have a lot of fun here and the guys are great.

    Cheers, Don
