Hello all. I have a 19" JBL mini carbine as my back up gun. The only thing is that the gun for how small it is, comes with a huge 8mm shaft with a gigantic threaded tip . I don't know what JBL was thinking but I would like to replace it with a 6mm shaft of the same length, to create some speed and range to this gun. Does anyone know where I can locate such a shaft and who makes them?

Is this the gun in question?
JBL had some shitty triggers when I owned one, bought new in '99. I know they shaped up with their new wood guns.

Yep! That is the little sucker right there. Any idea where I could get a thinner shaft for it?

I'd start with their website http://www.jblspearguns.com/ there's an email there. Maybe they can point you to a dealer.

$28.00on a gun that small there is not much range possible ,the power stroke is just too short ,that gun is for shooting sleeping fish ,in holes at night.

Diesel, is it legal to shoot lobster down there ?
Cheers, Don

There are no restrictions as far as I am aware of. There are very strict rules about shooting on the reefs though, so if they are not in the open we don't shoot them. Undersized or egged lobsters are definitely restricted. Where i am from there are not mainly rules in terms of fish caught during seasons or other limits as I see you guys are laid with overseas. The population of my country is VERY small (less than 180,000) and only a small amount of people spear fish (personal consumption).

philThat is the same shaft it comes with. I am looking a smaller diameter spear in a Tahitian style.

I think you may have to get a shaft made for another gun, and grind your own notch to fit the JBL mech. As others have said that gun is not worth the hassle.

For the price of getting a shaft made you could probably get a 60-90 cm euro and be in a much better situation

Trade it for a cheap 6 foot pole spear, more range. That would look better strapped to a Bubble Blowers leg.
What ever you do please don't put a 5/8 band on and try to cock it. The broken handle will cut a deep hole in your leg. I saw it happen with a tourist here in Laguna during bug season. He bleed all over my van but the paramedics gave me he wt belt and rubber coated hip wts. ( oh boy).:rolleyes1:Cheers, Don

my first gun is that short too wit a six,5 mm shaft..i bought it because of the good handling and travelling with it. first i thought it would be a benefit to ad a second band.
but i m sure my selfmade pole has more range,, pesonally i will give this gun away and i guess you should better do the same.
