  • Well, hello to everyone I guess. Im fairly new to spearfishing. I started last fall just before the water dropped into the 50s. Im partial to using a polespear as opposed to a gun becuase Im that way about hunting/fishing/killing anything. I hunt with a recurve and fish with a flyrod so the polespear seemed to make sense. Im in flight school down in Pensacola, FL which happens to be not the greatest spot for spearos without a boat. Ive been going to the bridges and one of the new inshore reefs with my canoe and have been doing pretty well with sheepshead. Now I want to expand my abilities and find a wider variety of game to hunt so Im combing the forums for leads to new spots. Im comfortable down to about 25 feet now and can stay under for somewhere between 30-45 seconds. Anybody that lives near me and wants a partner to dive with or can find it in their heart to take a newb under their wing, Im your man.

  • Welcome fly boy , thanks for your service mate. It sounds like you are off to a logical start with the pole spear,
not all shooters are good hunters. The pole spear teaches stalking skills while still allowing a pro a return to his roots should he take a brake from the gun.

    Cheers, Don Paul
