Thanks for the good wishes brothers!! Had a good day yesterday. Went to work at 6:00 AM but by 11:00 I said to hell with this, I worked friday vet's day and today it's my b-day.....I'm going home. Picked some Heinekens on the way home and some meat from the supermarket. Spent the afternoon listening to some music, making ''carne frita con tostones'' (fried pork and plantains), drinking beer and having a little tournament with a pellet rifle with a couple of friends in my backyard. Good times indeed! Waiting for this water to clear up and lay down a bit. Thanks again brothers.:thumbsup2:

Welcome to the forum Lee, you probably don't know me but I've been here for a while and was aware of the past differences you had with Dan and some of the past drama. What I'm trying to say is that this forum was the last place we would expect to see you......but you know what, I think this is pretty cool and just show the kind of good people we have here, even tho we disagree sometimes we are willing to work over our differences. Once again welcome.:)

Ddonell is right. 405 IS A FILLER. For laminating blanks you have to use the 105 plus a hardener like 206 in a 5:1 ratio, that means 5 parts 105 resin and one part 206 by volume. After mixing then you add the filler being 403 best for laminating until you get a creamy (like ketchup) consistency then do what you did and clamp and stuff. Or you could get West Systems G-FLEX EPOXY glue and mix it in a 1:1 ratio (equal parts by volume) and use it straight like I do or add a little of the 403. Also is very important that if you are going to use the same wood laminates that were soaked in the uncured 405 resin make shure that you clean them real good with solvent (I prefer xylene) and give them a light sanding and extra solvent cleaning to make shure that you get a strong bond to the wood and not to the uncured resin in the wood grain. I hope this helps.

I don't like to use a top laminate either.......I put it on the bottom. Why put it on top just to split it in half when cutting the track?? I do believe that the horizontal laminate gives the blank resistance against side bending. You could glue it to the blank and then size it to the desired dimentions. Anyways take your time building and you be fine. Even if you mess up the blank you'll learn so much that you'll be way better making the next one. Also try some practice cuts on some scrap wood when setting the router before taking your actual blank to it. That way you could check for depth, width and looks. Also resist shaping the blank before making all the center cuts (mech pocket, track, etc.) since you'll be setting the centerline on the blank and all those cuts are easier if the blank still square.
