A group of hunters has captured a Filipino marine crocodile a ton of weight and six feet long could be the largest ever seen in the Asian country, according to published local media Tuesday.

The hunters were able to arrest him on the third attempt, accompanied by 30 men
The hunters chased the animal for 21 nights before he could capture him. After two failed attempts in the reptile was released from the cords with which they tried to tie him, managed to seize the third, accompanied by 30 men.

Experts from the Center for Conservation of Palawan, an island west of the Philippines, found that the lizard is a male over 50 years, weighing 1075 kilos and is 6.4 meters from the muzzle end of the tail .

    Attacks on humans
The Ministry of Environment considers that the animal could be responsible for the death of a local farmer who disappeared last July, blaming the reptile killing a 12 year old girl in 2009, but after examining the contents of stomach showed no human remains.

Still, "the community was relieved," said Rollie Sommelier, the leader of the hunters who caught the lizard, was quoted by the British news channel Sky News. "But we're not sure if someone has eaten, because we have seen other similar crocodiles in the area," he says.

Despite the evidence linking the animal with the death of several people, the crocodile will not be slaughtered but will become part of a nature reserve which will be displayed until the end of his days.

    An animal record
It could be the largest crocodile ever captured
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the marine crocodile that was caught to date was in Australia and measured 5.48 meters. Thus, according to a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Environment, Josefina de Leon, "could be the largest crocodile captured in the story."

However, the largest that has existed in history is the crocodile emperor, Sarcosuchus imperator. It lived 110 million years, measured between eleven and twelve meters long and weighed about eight tons, according to the record books.

han tenido que pagarle bien a los nativos para su captura.
