Who in the Miami-Broward area has in their possession a slip-tip by any of the reputable makers; Mori, Riffe, Aimrite, Wong, Plamen Kolev etc. I'd like to meet and take a look at anything except the RA slip tube.
Who's local and has a slip-tip?

i love it when you start taking an interest in a product.
I dont always agree with your ultimate determination(actually i think i have agreed with you about everything except a purge on my snorkel) but every time you evaluate a product line on the market i learn a hell of a lot about a spearing gear.
I have two for a polespear if you are interested in them, JBL and gatku
-
Well you know I try
Is this the Gatku? What does the part of the shaft that goes into the tip look like, is it tapered, stepped or unmodified?
Which JBL?
-
It is ground out leaving a little ball in the front.
-
I think I have the "old" style as there are clear differences between the two designs.
here is the end of the stem for you.....also, no ball as Tuna stated
there is a slight indent in the slip tip itself fora knot to hide but the knot I tie (figure is too large to seat there for my liking..I like a different configuration even if it fit, but it is still a feature of the tip
-
I'd be happy to mail/loan you a Plamen.

I'm buying a Mori from a member here, when I get it your more than welcome to check it out.

I have an old JBL slip tip. I can drop it off tomorrow if you want.
-

Those are known as detachable heads.
Cheers, Don

It came on the JBL I usually shoot. Thing was heavy as hell. But DP is right; they are called breakaway tips. Not the same thing I guess.
