So there I was, hanging on the surface at the outer atholls yesterday. Then all of a sudden ALL the fish dove for the bottom....moving really fast. I look around and behind me comes one of these. This is a photo I got from Google but it's about as close as I could find to the one I saw....this one is bigger,
It just cruised really slow around me. I'm not sure if I was close enough for an effective shot or not. Hard to tell. The water was pretty clear and I'm not sure how big it was. One thing for sure, it was maybe a once in a lifetime siting. Unreal,
Anyone every shot one? I read they run off on the surface and don't dive. Maybe I could have held it with my 55 Wong and reel. ?? I don't mind. I'm not losing sleep over it. Beautiful fish.

I have never wanted to pull the trigger on one, just a personal choice. My friend shot a record one after it
swam around me in La Paz, then over to him, of course he fileted it and it hit the BBQ. I started to swim to the boat to get my Hi 8 and Nikonos, than I heard the gun go off. He had a Riffe Island gun and a blow up float.Cheers, Don

Cheers, DonI guess I kind of reverted back to my scuba diving, non spearing days when I would have been incredibly stoked to see anything like this. The kill thought wasn't strong for sure. I was in awe. And if I had shot it, and been lucky enough to have landed it, I know it was just all luck. It's a lot harder diving down to our sneaky ass snappers and hitting a 12 lb one.
Or am I just gettin' old? -
