The original cowl hand hold inside cover was plastic, cracked and usable. so after some research i found a 1986 part was metal but was a different shape. Here is what I did to make it work.;)
Cut of the cowl center post attachment.
Slightly oversized the outer mount holes.
Filed the outer corners of the new part to fit.
Cut off the new parts center mount.
Screwed on the new part with SS screws.

Southern Calf is finally get days of rain. This creek behind my place is usually just a trickle, today it is roaring.:thumbsup2:
Getting my GPS and secondary Vhf antennas cleaned up for arch mock up. Spent the night stuffing more cables and wires into rigging tubes. These will be joined to rubber connection unions after arch is finished.
Cheers, Don
Hard rain again, mounted a short rubber FM antenna and routed more wire tubes. Added a couple more switches to the helm.;)

Pulled the starter so I could R+R the fuel hose with Gates fuel injection hose. I going to also do the carb fuel pumps. While I was in there I made up some new ground straps for the switch pack.
Hose specs:
Modern Fuels Require Modern Fuel Hose.
Installing Barricade protects the system against the aggressive fuel mixtures of today's modern fuels, which can degrade basic rubber hose and result in customer comebacks. Plus, with Barricade, you can be assured that you are complying with permeation laws, and providing your customers with the best hose available - all while being environmentally-friendly.
225 psi working pressure rating (best-in-class).
Aramid reinforcement spiral braid for superior burst strength.
Exceeds SAE J3OR14T2 as well as low-permeation requirements for CARB.
Approved for use with Gasoline, Ethanol/Gasoline blends (gasohol) such as E10, E15 or E85, Diesel, Biodiesel including soybean methyl ester (SME), rapeseed methyl ester (RME), palm methyl ester (PME), Biodiesel/Diesel blends such as B20, and 100% Methanol.
Temperature: -40 Deg. F to 257 Deg. F (-40 Deg. C to 125 Deg. C) continuous, up to 302 Deg. F (150 Deg. C) intermittent.

Fuel pumps and carb reseal is complete, hoses installed. Carbs were real clean inside. I found a salvage SS binnacle to rise the compass for a better view. Sanded it with 220 then wrinkle painted it.(it needs a little more cure time).
At this point I have all the battery cables, motor harness and fuel line in rigging tube.
Cheers, Don
Hose and ss clamps to replace the cable ties on the fuel hose.
Cheers, Don
Mounted and sealed the binnical and compass to the console.

feels like you're getting close.

Going to scrounge the boat yards today for some SS tube to finish the radar arch fab.:D
Cheers, Don
Completed the motor harness plug socket cleaning with solvent and small brush. While fitting the starter the last bolt wouldn't reach torque so I drilled, taped and installed helicoil inserts. The motor just needs spark plugs and the paint work completed.
Cheers, Don
Started cleaning and conditioning the tubes.

Getting lots off grime of the boat with 303 cleaner. Started mocking up the radar arch and 12' main radio antenna upper mount with 200 mph tape.

Looking nice. Does the 303 citrus degreaser work the same as the regular/old 303 protectant?
Looking nice. Does the 303 citrus degreaser work the same as the regular/old 303 protectant?
No they are separate products used in stages. First the 303 citrus degreaser, then the 303 protector to condition and protect the surface from UV and contamination. They really do the job with a long history of aviation use.

Work looking good Don.
More scrounging yielded a all weather top that needs a we bit of modding, but will keep the chick warm on overnights at Catalina Island. I'll dig my camera out when the boat is done and lose the nighttime cell pix,
Cheers, Don
Wow now that's a find!
