I never thought about how I do it. I am palms down. I use my thumb to make the wishbones lay right.

Palms down is harder, you must stretch the bands more.

What do you mean by stretch the bands more?

If I was climbing a rope my thumbs would be heading in same direction as my climb heading.I ''climb my bands the same way.:D

thanks guys , i think its best to use which ever method is easiest for your body type .

I like it!! It looks a little rough around the edges, in a metaphoric way, rugged. I hope it serves you well and in good health for many years.
-
thanks Lunker , i left it a little rough mostly because i got tired of sanding it plus i wanted it to have a grippy feel .
-
Dang, I'm really impressed! You DID BUILD your gun!:thumbsup2:

Rough looking like a tank :D, cant believe you fabricated everything yourself BIG RESPECT!!hope it shoots sweet dread... Keep us updated

hey guys tested the speargun a little and the range seems to be around 20 feet , it has a lot of power with 3 5/8 band . the oil finish is actually working pretty well and the oxide coating i did with the rust proofer worked really well with no rusting .
-
i also switched back to 2 line wraps which is a little shorter than the range but far more manageable than the 3 wraps i was using to test it , i also prefer the nylon braided cord to mono , it is easier to manage .

20 ft shooting range in the water? are you sure?
-
20' from you, from your out stretched hand or the tip of the gun?
-
20 feet from the end of the muzzle to the rear end of the spear shaft , there is an additional 4 feet from the shaft , last week i also went to an empty piece of beach and fired it in the air with the bungee unhooked but the shooting line still attached to just the spear and it went about 100 feet away and when it landed the tip went 2 1/2 feet into the sand . by the way is 20 feet good ? it is a 5/16 shaft and i also cut the bands to the limit of my strength .
-
the test was done in about 4 feet of water against a current , my day said it would have better range in calm water .
-
It is a long shot. I guess that my 130 could shoot far but I don't know if I would shoot a fish 20' from my muzzle.
-
cool because a diveshop told me 3 5/8 bands are way over kill for rock spearfishing but in Trinidad a lot of the dive shop owners are old heads who like to KILL a fish and actually don't really like the thin shafts on euro guns . they told me that in Trinidad it was common for all spearfishers guns to have at least 3 5/8 bands cut short and the shafts were at least 5/16 . in the old days a lot of guys had 8 3/4 bands on 1/2 shafts to spear sharks . my father actually wanted me to put 3 3/4 bands on my speargun but the dive shop was out of stock .
-
Just a thought, you may want to shoot the gun with just two bands a wee bit until the sear and trigger mate to each other. You can add more power later if you find you need it.

i was aiming for the specs of the Hammerhead Evo 110 which was locally available [ too expensive ] is my 20 foot range equal to this speargun ?
