Diving for Pismo Clams

  • Haha. My buddy and I went down and got a couple of limits today. I got the jackpot with one going just under 7 inches across. That thing was really big.

    Good job. Are you diving for them or are you raking for them if you don't mind me asking?

  • Diving. I'm not a pussy. Haha. We trunked it with no weight belts. I used my bodyboard fins. My watch said it was 57, but it didn't feel that cold.

    Spoken like a good Marine.:toast::toast:

  • My simple recipe for the "regular" clams.

    After they are cooked, remove from shell, in a bowl add good olive oil to cover the clams, salt and black pepper to taste, a little bit of garlic, a little vinegar and oregano, let it marinate for a couple of hrs in the fridge.

    Eat plain on a toothpick/fork or on sliced baguette.

  • HAHAHA. No aqua culturing for me. Not now at least. A buddy of mine is raising tilapia and crawdads and growing his garden off of their waste. Its really a cool process. But I am moving to a spot without as much space and no garden so I don't know if I will be able to even grow the basil seeds my great grandfather brought to the US from Italy through Staten island. :(

    Your great grand father's seeds like the weather near the bay.;)
    I just planted 7and 7 of them after getting them started in wet cotton.

    Now in the interest of gardening....
