Fitting wishbone inserts into Speardiver small hole rubber

  • I've been asked a few times if Speardiver small hole speargun rubber tubing is difficult to insert wishbones into. Here I have a piece of 19mm small hole Speardiver rubber and dishwashing detergent. The head on the Speardiver 14mm-1 Euro Muzzle Band Adapters is pretty big and not pointy, as you can see it goes in quick.

  • Yep, it can be done with spit and without stretching the rubber first. But if you want it to be effortless with a thicker insert that's how it's done.

Pretty sure I've hear that line in a movie before...:S

  • That did look easy. Can you do a video inserting dyneema (the nylon wishbone line?) into the 14 mm, small diameter?
I do it but it ain't pretty. I have to use gloves so I don't gash my hands. But I also use the double wrap half hitch (the "Riffe knot") which is bigger. Maybe I only need a half hitch? but I've had those pop out due to coming untied inside the rubber. Super glue?

  • Thanks Dan, I ended up lubing it with spit, putting the insert on the table, and pushing the rubber down over it. Worked first try, unlike using pliers :nono:
