Hey all. just a quick question. I am wondering if it would be safe to take a 18' tournament style bass boat out in the keys...... just past the 3 mile mark? obviously you would need to keep a close watch on the weather. Any other comments/concerns?
thanks
Bass boat for spearfishing?

Just a little bump

Probably not a good idea but I have seen much worse. My biggest concern would be any kind of waves or sudden storms popping up.
Also saltwater is rough on everything. Especially boats that aren't designed for it. Make sure you take extra care when you wash it.

I can't speak for the area your talking and I hear that the east coast is rougher, but for bass boats and the ocean I think depends on your experience. 3miles in a bass boat is what a 5 minute trip? Pick your days play it safe and learn what your comfort zone is with that boat because it wasn't designed for big water.

I would also make sure you have good communication devices and leave a plan with the local sea tow. Most bass boats don't even have radios

good suggestions guys. thank you

Use what the locals use. It's evolved that way for a reason. That's what I've seen around the world.

Storms in the keys during this time of the year are all over the place and pretty intense. Keep that in mind.

frank! You aren't supposed to make it look cool to be out in a storm!

Wow! awesome pics Frank. Please add them to your album.
