So in Fort Lauderdale and Miami we can take hogfish within 3 miles of land?
I believe that's right.
As far as I know, this only applies to federal waters. So yes Dan, we can still take hogs from 3 miles in to the beach.
Do you know if oceanside of the Marquesas/Dry Tortugas is considered South Atlantic? I would say yes but I'm hoping there's a chance to go for some deeper hogs when I go down there in October
So close off the rec guys but still open season for the commercial guys :crazy:
Yea I don't get that either...read somewhere that rec takes more hogs though but I'm not sure about that. I can only speak from what I've seen but I think the hogs nearshore in south Florida need a break more than anything. Almost every shore dive I do here I usually only see fish just at 12" or less it's even worse in the keys

there are still big hogs real close you just have to know where to look but yes I have seen a decline over the years.

Haha should've known they were holding out in the secret spots! Gotta start venturing away from my usual areas
