I put on the butt pad with the same west systems epoxy i used on the laminate. I did a sample test before and it seemed to work really well. Anyone have a preference for butt pad glue?
-
epoxy works well, just scuff up the rubber.....that said ive used super glue and contact cement before with success, epoxy will last longest though imo. Beautiful work btw!:thumbsup2:

If you have 5 days for a glue cure 3m 5200 will not let you down mate.
Cheers, Don

I will add a third to Akira dkt and Don Paul's suggestion of super glue. When I was first told that I couldn't believe it. With all the epoxy and this and that that I had done I was shocked at the suggestion of super glue.
-
interesting! I will try a sample piece next time. And the super glue doesn't break down over time in the water/sun etc? Thanks for the tip!
I did a pull test with the same rubber and same epoxy on a cross section scrap of the stock, with and without light sanding (rubber and stock) and the sanded side was noticeably stronger when i ripped it apart. Makes sense.

Wow I was surprised during the first buoyancy test last night! I went out with 1.5lbs of lead thinking that would be more than enough. Not the case, gotta find more and go back to the harbor. She's a fatty for sure!!:@
-
More than 1.5?! Holy hell! She's a horker for sure. Don't take her to dinner or you'd walk away buying the restaurant.
-
I managed to get 2lbs under the track (mostly forward)! This seems about right. I might have to fine tune with a little bit more since i tested with 4 bands. I want to make sure it still sinks with 5 bands. So far, so good!
-
Nice!
-
Well that was too much fun!!! Here is the final rigged gun in a 4-band config.

Don't let Capt Leo see that... it will go missing.:D;) Great job mate. Look forward to seeing it someday.
Cheers, Don

Good luck with it.

Hell ya! Now for some details (gun and fish). I want to know how it shoots for you, tracking, etc. I wouldn't mind hearing about the wahoo either. I'm landlocked in an office right now so I'll live through you.
