I'm sure it will be great...
For me a all wood gun with a very slim front profile reinforced with CF (like the one you already did) would be even better
But you're experimenting and what do I know... -
Besides the fact that those quick release clips are flimsy as, i've had all of mine break the first or second time i used them!
Would not want to risk that happening mid dive.
Love your work though!
Maybe a bad run of the clips?
I had one breaking during a session... If just one clip breaks it will still be in place but extra care should be taken and it replaced ASAP.I have been testing a lot of mounts and those clips hold up really well (and I'm no using Gopro ones).
the clips are used in motocross, skydiving and a bunch of other activities that put much more stress in the mount, then going trough water at the speeds we move...
-
Yes, that definitely would work but I would prefer not having extra drilling...
I'll have to test it and see if that's an issue...
But it I said, once the the connection is not perpendicular to the screw axis, it won't pivot... I might even have include some inclination on the mount to make sure that doesn't happen. Thanks for the tips
-
What stops it from pivoting around the screw?
Good question
Usually the area around a pin is not flat so the mount would have to be fine tuned with either a file or sand paper to fit the specific area. Once it's no longer flat (or not perpendicular to the screw axis), it won't pivot.
In the cressi handle pictured, the surface is inclined...
In case of really flat surfaces a rubber washer would probably help... Any suggestions? a slice of speargun band, could be used and once compressed unevenly by the not circular connection surface would probably work. I've used this but not in this situation so I'll have to try once I get these.

Please check the speargun mount: spearfishing.world/photography…gopro-speargun-mount.html

Hi,
This mount is similar in principle to the mask one (http://spearfishing.world/phot…ase-gopro-mask-mount.html) and is fixed by replacing one of the pins on the handle/trigger mech with an M4 screw that goes all the way trough...
Let me know what you think... -

Solid kayak with or without the motor.
Goodbye only source of upper body workout :rolleyes1:
You can paddle too, to get more speed

Dan, what is the suggested burn time of the current light? How about the two new options?
To me, I can't imagine a light too bright. I always want to be able to see deeper and clearer. I don't have an issue with changing batteries a lot. I like rechargables.
One suggestion. Look into the lights that take the bigger batteries, I think 18425 is the size. They are much beefier cells than a AA but don't weigh as much as a C. Ill look up the actual name and post it later.
Could be 18650? there's also it's big brother 26650...
Much better then having to insert/charge/handle a bunch of batteries.
For day time spearing (the only allowed here) burn time is not an issue (very short intervals that it's on to look into caves) and having a rechargeable makes it a non issue...I believe that there's such thing as "too bright" but haven't experienced it yet
And 270 shouldn't be too much -
Thanks very nice of you considering the low interest level.:thumbsup2:
Best of luck with the other mounts.3D printing makes it possible to make just 1

I learned of the place from Howard @ Laguna Sea Sports in 80, he taught me how to get there before any road in. A few years later one other guy he taught died when he broke down crossing the peninsula going home and tried to walk to the East for help, he died in the desert just a few miles from a fish camp.
This old picture used to be in the Catina before I learned to stand behind the fish.

Would it help any if you went on their website?
Or do you need to see it physically?
Checking the site I can see the kind of mount that is needed and it's geometries... but then i need to know the exact dimensions of the slots to then make the "T" shapes to fit in those...
I'm now focused on the mask and universal gun mount (for Gopro). After that I might check if any of my contacts has one or if there's some schematics/details of the mounts available from Contour...
-
I hope you decide to produce at least one. Who knows maybe your original design would be small enough to leave on all the time and not interfere with aiming.
I'm now focused on the mask mount and the universal gun mount... after these are set I can give some more attention to this. Even if there's not much interest on this I'll make one for you if you want -
J, the camera underwater case is large compared to a gopro.
It was working fine at rear top of the gun with a stick on mount, and would do it again in that position when I get the roam2 in a few weeks as the replacement for the one I lost.
What an amazing tool that would be if you fabricated a mount like that Marinatus! Everyone makes a million GoPro mounts, but a Contour has very few options... Please help us Contour guys out.I don't own one or have a friend that has one so making accurate measurements is an issue... but if someone could get me those (or point me in the right direction) I could look into that

BUMP..
DG, Where would you suggest mounting this camera?
I've been contemplating for awhile whether or not to purchase this cam.
Looks solid and easy to use. Only turn-off for me is the huge WP case!
IMO, it seems to robust for a mask strap mount. And because I use a wood gun, finding a mount that's compatible for it is very tricky.
Any thoughts or suggestions!
Mahalo, Joe
A mount that is attached by using a screw that replaces one of the trigger pins? I'll have some news about that next week (basically it's like the mask mount http://spearfishing.world/85128-post16.html but attached sideways) but for Gopro...

The problem with standard americans (not everyone! but most..) is that they want to find abroad same things they have in they homeland. I/E: Go to Walgreens and find Tylenol at the 3rd isle...Funny as I find it true, here, too for the emigrants that live in the US and come visit with their relatives

Awesome! More pics please :thumbsup2:

Nice. When you put it on does it pull the mask off your face?
No.
As you can see in the video, I use 2 hands but the second hand is mostly to guide the camera.
About it blocking the view, the best analogy i can think of is the nose.... You have it in your field of view but it doesn't block anything (considering an average size nose )

Mount arrived today and looks great...
I had the Gopro fitting confirmed with the C4 mount and the screw and nut fit is perfect...
I have a video showing the mount and release with the mask on.Video:
