  • The video called "Bottom Hunting" which is new and basically a persistent infomercial has some real nice Miami locations and some deep diving, but, it looks and feels like it was shot all in one day and different locations and the narrator is annoying. Still nice to see new Pippin spearing movie.

knives seem useless and more for hunting than spearing and I don't understand the "Fall" leaves type pattern or camo for there wetsuits? dont think much thought was put into it and seems like they are riding everything on the notoriety of Pippin. My 2 cents and don't mean any dis respect.

  • Black1's assessment is right on the money. What are the Miami locations that the Persistent video was shot in?

KC, just a couple of days ago I was speaking with Sporascrub, a member of the forum who was very much into pneumtics, and he told me that the Mares line of pneumatics is superior to everything else on the market, with maybe the exception of the new omer air gun. He also said he prefers the Sten over the Cyrano for the punching power.

  • "What are the Miami locations that the Persistent video was shot in?"

I personally don't know Miami that well, especially the dive spots and the video doesn't say were exactly, only that is is off Miami Beach. I will bring over the video some time soon for you Dan.

  • Dan,

I have the Cyrano 850 and the Sten 100. Your friend is correct, the sten has more punch due to the
8mm shaft. I am looking for a 130, but that size is not available in either the sten or cyrano (or omer).
The only 130 that I can find is the Seac Sub Asso. I started using pneumatics last year after a shoulder injury. I am not able to load my band guns anymore, and I was looking for the longest pneumatic possible for clear water conditions. I am glad that I found this forum, it is good to speak with other freedivers.

    Thanks,
    KC

  • Yes,

I own Riffes and many other brands, I can load my sons Riedel, but it is only 4' long. Its the action of pulling the band back that I cant do. My all time favorite gun before the injury was my 130cm old green handle Roballen. It has one 20mm band and I saw spots after I loaded it. My oldest son may use it this year, probably with 2 smaller bands. I am getting familiar with the pneumatics, and my confidence in them is growing. Our forecast is for the oil to hit our area on wednesday. I had planned a week of diving next week, but I will have to wait and see what areas are closed by then.

  • Mighty I am real sorry that that oil is coming to your area and anywhere for that matter, what a freakin mess this is, they should stop calling it a "spill" because it is far from that, it is a disaster.

  • Anyone have any info on the"stunner" pneumatic? I am looking for a good 130cm, was thinking about the SEAC SUB ASSO 130 until I saw these. Is the pippin gun made in Europe?

Persistent air guns are made by Seac Sub. Are the same with different colors.

Mares are better. As I heard, Mares is coming with a new line of pneumatics by this fall.

There are other options to power-up your penumatics. Take a look here:
