Okay... Finally the day is HERE--- I opened my 3meter Riffe Pole Spear... Need ideas for rigging it up... Came with a 52" Power Band & Sub-Mini Ice Pick Detachable Head 9/32”....
I have a Mori Slip-tip on order... Need advice on bastardizing it to fit my Pole Spear---Plus-- advice for attaching the Spectra to my Float line... I am in new territory here...
Open to advice to you fellow Privative Hunters...
Thomas
P.S. A special thanks to James & Joseph Spearfishing Supply out of San Diego--- awesome guys to deal with-- from Damien, Robert and Eric... Cool peeps who know their gear + fair market prices, and deals!
-
Really? Why--- because it is too high up? What are you comparing it to-- so I can re-think this.... Thanks Dan.... And Merry Christmas...
-
Ok... I had a Redneck Idea whilst browsing CL today @ work... I think the freshwater "Fishing Float Tube" could be converted into a Killer Blue Water device with Lock Boxes for Flares and Emergency stuff-- should the idiot Charter Capt. not be paying attention and you drift a little tooo far away from your buds...
Has anyone Done this before? Surely it's not an original idea?
Let me know-- here is a picture for shits and giggles...

@Virgili---- What was the Temp out there? Surface + 30ft down this time of year?
-
Hey-- Thanks Lunker--- Liked your Post #20 on how you built yours... I must have missed what sorta Weights you used? At the moment--I am Land-Locked--- so I would go to a Bait & Tackle store or Academy Sports for weights--- what suggestions for weight would work? I understood that you used GLUE to hold the Weights in place? I am guessing you put glue on them 1st--- then shoved them into the 2" hole?
Also-- what is the purpose of the Foam if you have Air for buoyancy? Not a physicist by any means... Was just curious what the Foam brings to the game that Air did not?

Did you Video this process by chance?? Send link??

@Dan--- How in tarnatins do you keep the Float Right Side up since it has a Top Heavy Flag?? JUst curious... Somehow-- I imagined it to be unstable in the water?
What did you do to it to avoid this 'flopping over'??

I read all 13 Pages--- and I still haven't come across a Mask post where someone can Order it with Prescription Lenses... Would really LIKE to know if the AquaLung or the Micromask can be ordered with prescription lenses?
-
@ Don--- What brand of Bungie do You use with your 50' Spectra Cord? Did you buy both from Neptonic Systems?
-
@ Dan... Good clarification... I'd like some opinions for the following=
* Float Line for Pole Spear=
* Slip-Tip Line for Complete Breakaway systems for Pole Spears (not just brand--but how long should it be before connecting to Float Line?)= -
So-- what about all of this hype about Lines Snapping and loosing $100 Breakaway Tips?? I thought the whole Spectra thing was the solution to everyone loosing Spears + Tips from Large Pelagic Fish and some heavy-duty Grouper?? From what you all are saying is this is nothing but a 'sham' and a marketing ploy... Am I understanding correctly?
-
Okay-- Looking to buy a Float Line--- Did I read where someone said Riffe Float Lines SINK? If that is the case-- they are out of the running... Does anyone know for sure?
I am in between these Final Two Float Lines for Medium/Big Fish=
1) 100' Neptonics float line (RED)
2) 100' Riffe float line
3) 100' OMER float lineThanks...

@ Monster Slayer---- Emailed Mori at that AOL ady... Someone replied from that Address and said that the Mori Slip-Tip can be modified for the Riffe Spear Pole.... But sounds a bit hokey... Has Anyone done this before?? If am buying a Mori--- i want it for a complete Breakaway system because i plan on poking a huge-a$$ Fish that i need that level of penetration for... Capish? Anyone disagree?
Thanks peeps for the feedback...

@Phil.... Killer catch friend... Amazing... Only... I am old school Pole Spearing-- I could not seem to find a Mori Slip-Tip for a Pole Spear... They seem to be focused on spearguns only?
-
