ne mistake I want to share it the calculati for the filling graphite should be by volume and not by your estimation , easily formula 1cm3=1milliliter so if you have 1.5cm*1.7cm*130cm you need 331 mL from epoxy and don't forget the loss you can add 10-20% more

Hi ,
I just want to understand how the small ID rubber can replace the regular one and how much power needed or enough to let your spear hit the target at 5 meter with satisfactory results ,just did 2 studies ,first I take my south african rail gun and calculate the elongation ratio for the rubber as per the recommended by the manufacture and as I used it practically ,second I use primeline calculator to get the theoretical power , the attached picture may be won't be easy to understand cause I mix the pound , gram ,cm and inch but it show the force in pound we could get theoretically from specific rubber ,
south african gun can shoot 2*16mm at elongation 315% (force is 95-105 Ib) or 1*18mm at elongation 290% (Force is 55-60 Ib) ! using same spear 7mm length 170 cm ,I can replace the 16mm with 14.5mm small ID and elongation 360% to get the same power .
conclusion so it is more simple
why when I change from rubber size to bigger rubber size I can get the shoot at less power by same spear (as manufacture told me)?
I'm not expert but I just use what ever data came with both speargun and the rubber maybe I miss something here ?
I want to find a relation between the needed power and spear dimension or mass .
I hope my post is clear BTW I discuss this in another forum but not find the light . -
I'm searching for alternative to Herculiner coat ,salt won't work as it absorbs the water and coat will lose adhesion ,sand is not good for me ,need something purchase in small quantity and can be applied on the handle .

Hi everybody ,
I have read a lot of useful threads in this forum ,time to start my own ,I just finish the coating of my new build 120 Cm snake teak gun ,I'm going to the beach next week for (balancing /ballast ) ,I'll use a 150 cm Spear 7 mm ,I prefer the gun to be under water level by 4 in when spear inside and float when it out ,now after reading many posts there are 2 directions to ballast/balance the gun , first option(as majority like) I ll add weight till I get full loaded gun in horizontal position under sea level by 4 in ,and second option to add weight till the highest part from the full loaded gun is under water line by 4 in but not necessary gun in horizontal may be the muzzle pointing down , then remove the spear and distribute that weight along the gun in order to keep it float horizontally after shooting ,I have tried the second option for small gun and found the muzzle became very heavy and tracking of the fish will be difficult little bit but once I shot the muzzle won't flip after shooting ,my goal here is to reduce the muzzle flip and the recoil ,which one is better ?my last question if I make gun mass 4 or 5 times the shaft mass does it minimize the recoil significantly ?

HI everybody ,
I'm mohamed from Egypt and I'm staying in UAE ,I work in the metal welding field ,I just finished my 2 yrs in spearfishing and AIDA level 2 , I usually spear at depth (15--22) mm and our mainly catch is grouper,King ,barracuda ,trevally , queen fish ,crab, squid ,..etc ,I'm interesting in the wood gun building and the first time for me to visit this forum was a very nice discussion regarding this subject ,
thanks and I hope We can share our experience .
