I have lost more than one big fish because of failure at the point where the line attaches to the shaft. I now rig all my sharkfin shafts with a chaffing tube. Too bad it wont fit on the back of the Euros. I will post a pic when I can.

I do not understand why anyone would attach a knife to their leg or arm. It just seems like it could not be easy to get to when you need to get to it. I put mine on my belt and wear it in the center covering my belly button and lower unit. Easy to get to with either hand and not in the way. Just saying...:toast:

G.R. I'm not clear about how you see it. Is a spearfishing reel used to recover line under pressure, like with a fishing rod, or just to recover line with little of no pressure after the fish has been subdued? I'm saying it's the latter.

Definitely the latter. The only time I really use the reel is after the fish is in the boat or on the stringer. I guess you could fight a fish with your reel if you were trying to qualify for The Special Olympics.:D

You guys have it made in the upper Gulf Coast for Spearfishing. A Monster Mango down here is 8 lbs. Up your way that would be bait!! Nice catch:toast:

Hot off the press! Thank you to all that came out yesterday and shot. The current was moving a little more then we would've liked in the morning but it calmed down a lot by mid day. Throw in some stiff South winds and some clear water and you got yourself one heck of a good time. Many nice fish were brought in and glad to see everyone there. Till next year. Get your Grunt Game on Boys!!

I have a 60 inch 3 band and a 63 inch 4 band and have been using them for years. Great guns and have taken many huge fish with each using a 5/16 shaft slip tip or flopper. No negatives or suggestions to make these guns better. They shoot great right out of the box.:thumbsup2:

I have yried them all too. As long as the rubber is fairly fresh and tiedd to the correct legnth you will be happy. with how it performs. That being sid Pursuit is the way to go. Good price and good reviews from the Forum Members.

Did I really type that? :toast::toast::toast::toast::toast::toast: Burp!

Aimrite used to have a video somewhere on speargun trigger testing. He had a tool that would apply pressure and measure the pressure. His Euro Mechs were tested to 600 lbs (Ithink) The American mechs on the Wongs were tested to 900 lbs (I think) You could find the video on Youtube. They use to test every trigger before final assymbley. Not a bad idea for a Speargun Maker or Trigger Maker.

I currently own a pair of Gara professional LDs and are trying to decide if it is worth upgrading to carbon fins. If it is, I have narrowed my choices to the three options mentioned above . I will be spearing mostly in about 30-80 feet of water. Advise or suggestions are welcome.:thumbsup2:

I made the switch from Garas to the Speardiver and never looked back. You won't find a better built fin out there at any price.:toast:
