The chlorine in city water takes care of most waterborne pathogens How does chlorine added to drinking water kill bacteria and other harmful organisms? Why doesn't it harm us?: Scientific American I don't know what viruses you'd expect to be in water that wouldn't be in the ambient environment.

I'm assuming if E coli and other bacteria from livestock, vermin, sewage leakage, etc can be transmitted from miles away in city water, associated viruses might accompany them. Since nasal irrigation removes protective mucus from sinus membranes, shouldn't the sterilized water should be as free as possible from any type of virus?

You could try "Fat Jacks Tash Wax" , I use the mint scented daily and look quite dashing as a result. It may help with mask seal as well. I have no leakage issues with or without.

Edit; my previous comment regarding "Fat Jacks" effectiveness in preventing leakage was in error. Since I started using this product I am oozing manliness,,,,, or so my woman tells me.

Welcome to the site! I just returned from Shenzhen, Dameisha last week and was wondering about spearfishing in those waters. Years ago I did some freediving in Hainan, Sanya but no spearfishing. I'm hoping you will post some comments about spearfishing in your area. Also, please share any info regarding Macao spearfishing.

Spearalina and I were in Cancun a couple weeks ago. Isla Mujeres had a lot of protected areas and snorkel boats made divers wear foam preservers so they couldnt go down and touch the reef. Since she broke her foot days before the flight, we didn't actively pursue spearing opportunities there, but the ceviche was awesome. Tulum is nearby and we heard has spearing charters. Not sure if this link helps but we found it researching for our next visit down there.

This motivated me to get a few things growing for the first time in years since moving from Wisconsin. Everything Spearalina and I have are in pots of our dock. The tomatillos have their husks, habeneros are about an inch, and the cilantro is bushing out nicely. Hopefully, salsa verde is soon to follow. We'd like to start some small fruit trees in pots, possibly from cuttings. If anyone has some branches to spare or advice how to propagate them would be appreciated.

Try using food grade DE for the ants. Anyone know if the saucer of beer trick works in Florida for snails? Id hate to waste a perfectly good beer trying to find out!

The Hammerhead rashguard uses weak material and barely lasts one season. The construction doesn't make sense, Lycra separating the front and back neoprene panels. There's nothing stopping water circulation, so the neoprene serves no purpose. The next batch of spearfishing vests will be reversible (different camo on each side) and incorporate anti-ride-up technology

I read that the neoprene panel prevents evaporative heat loss since your back is exposed to the wind. I find the HH more comfortable when wearing a weight belt or a BC than a plain Lycra rash guard. The extra padding is in the most critical areas where weights and straps rub.

The Lycra strip down the side eliminates cling and constriction, which is a problem for me with a full neoprene top. My Beuchat shorts also have neoprene front & rear with a Lycra strip running down the side of the legs, fit great, don't restrict movement, or chafe. For warm weather use, I think the vest would be completely non-constrictive with a Lycra wedge shaped strip under the arm and it might eliminate potential under arm abrasion issues as well.

I also have the short sleeve hammerhead shirt and it works extremely well. I wear a long sleeve rash guard under it once it starts getting cooler until I have to wear my wetsuit. The red shark on the loading pad is the only thing I don't like about it.

I've heard a few scuba boats down here starting to require DAN insurance. That might be all that is required to satisfy the liability issue. Also, a PFI or FII cert might further convince them to grant you access if you posses either.

We are fortunate that the $20 Cressi Perlas fit both Spearalina and me perfectly. One spare between us is all we need as a spare. Deeper than 50' thought, the Perla gives me a pretty good squeeze, so I recently picked up a Sphera to try for deeper boat dives. The fit is awesome and it's quite low volume. It was a display model, had a few insignificant scratches on the plastic lens, and priced accordingly. The first time trying it out was very strange with the curved side lens but I did manage to connect with a smaller fast moving mackerel while wearing it. I have yet to try the Sphera deep, but the Perla will be coming along as backup when I do.

The local dive shop in Pompano jus reported 20-30 viz over the phone and that their boats not going out since its so bad in places. Spearalina and I were going to go out after leaving work early today, but not if the viz is that bad. Any one with a viz report for Pomano and Is the viz better to the south? We'd go as far as Hollywood tomorrow morning to get some better viz and try out our new Speardiver vests unless it's bad to the south as well

I've actually had all three within the past few years. I startedwith the 3000's, found them way too stiff, cramped up like crazy, and the store exchanged them for 2000's which were much better. A few months later I scored used Razors for $40, found them much better than the 2000's and sold the 2000's. Since the Razors have removable blades, I can always move up to carbon fiber which is a huge plus. My girlfreind also bought a used set of the Mares and loves them as well. I'm 5'10", 205 for comparison. Welcome to the forum!

Finally got a big cooler with measurement marks on top. I need to do the same on my gun. What do you guys recommend? Dan, you should print measurement marks for aluminum guns with your vinyl printer. That'd be pretty sweet.

I use a oil base paint pen on all my pipe guns. I measure starting from 1" and add an inch to my desired mark. For example, mark at 13" for the 12" mark. The error is usually the first inch of a tape or ruler depending how they cut the end and rivet the end piece when applicable. I also print target species common to my area at appropriate length. The marks are easily touched up with the paint pen since the bungee clip and other factors wear the paint off and size limits change. I'm aprobably going to put my name and number on my guns the next time a touch up session is warranted now I'm thinking about it.

Pompano is green as well. Bugs are marchin so there are boats anchored all up and down the swim buoys. Too risky for Spearalina and I to freeddive with all the traffic, so we reverted to air to get some exercise and fill our bag with bugs yesterday and today. Midweek I'm up for shorediving and spearing so anyone interested PM or text me.
