Hope the weather stays nice. I'll be there in 10 days! Stoked! You been bit by an eel yet?

I just re-read your first post. This is a damn good thread. Thanks for posting Nate. I wish it was still duck season!

I would call the line release issue more of a fine tuning thing than an issue. Hope ya poke some nice fish! Dive safe

I like mine a lot. A couple things that I like to do to them is:
*Saw off the loading butt
*Remove the safety
*Make sure the line release disengages without any tension being put on the shooting line... You can test this by engaging the shaft, wrap the line around release, then pull trigger and gently pull the shaft forward and out of the mech. If the line release is still down holding your line, you need to take out the trigger cassette, push out the pin that holds the line release engager, then file some plastic off of it to make it swing freely. I found that there was too much friction on mine, and it was slowing down and throwing off shots.
*If you get a Rob Allen shaft you may need to modify the trigger housing by removing the metal piece that lines the top of the housing. It has a 90degree bend on the end of it. If you cut off the metal at the bend it gives you the extra clearance you need for loading the RA shafts.***If you're gonna be buying a new shaft and new bands for it immediately you may as well get a Speardiver or Rob Allen gun. It's gonna cost about the same and they come stock with those components. You can however get out there and kill plenty of fish for dinner with a stock Cressi Comanche. Good luck!

Welcome!

I stick everything in my surfboard bag with my boards. I have had problems in Miami with carrying on longfins. I hate that airport.

I think we are sold on the garlic shrimp.

My fiance and I will be on Oahu for 20 days starting at the end of February. We've narrowed down two places to stay. One is in Hauula the other is in Mokuleia. We both surf, and I wanna dive! We're not sure which town to pick and would love some local input. Thanks Fellas!!!!!

Awesome build. I love the wooden/Euro handle combos you make

That thing looks like it could chase you down the street!

That is a big ass squirrel fish!

THanks Greekdiver. I was actually thinking that if anybody was using this it would be you. I'm not looking to dive 100+ ft. I can shoot fish @ 80ft and that's plenty deep for me. Have you tried it before? I know you are diving super deep.

Hah, nevermind. Ramon has a great write up on pendulum diving. Shoulda used the search first!

What are the risks and dangers involved? It seems if you are doing bounce dives on a deep spot that you'd normally kick down to it would be less risky to use this technique. I would think you'd be burning way less o2. With a thin or no wetsuit you could do this without any weight on your belt as most people are neutral at 50-60ft. It also would instill good one up one down diving as you'd be taking turns with the weight. I've done "pull downs" where you hold your gun between your legs and pull down a line anchored to a wreck/reef. Pendulum diving seems like a great technique if you are not staying any longer at depth than you would had you kicked down...??? I must be missing something?

I've noticed that a whole lot of the best European divers use weights attached to a floatline that they ditch a depth. For deeper wreck/boat diving it seems like it would be much safer to use this technique. You could wear no weight on your belt and use a weight on a float that would make a much smoother decent than you would be comfortable with on your belt. I was wondering if any of you guys use this method?? I know that using a ton of weight to go beyond your limits is a really bad idea, but I'm not talking about that.

What about all of the videos on YouTube where people are hanging on to GWS fins hamming it up to the camera to dubstep music? That stuff seems so disrespectful and stupid. Anything for an awesome sponsorship from some snooty company that's gonna give you a bunch of stuff ya don't need I suppose. Someone's gonna get chomped in half eventually.

That slide ring is crazy! Have you figured out how many shots you can get off of a tank? Very cool thread. Thanks for posting!

Great dive and great stringer!
