Thank you Andrew

1000's of them great you when you jump in on deep wrecks in NC. The only time I've had trouble with them is when shooting rainbow runners. If you don't stone them the cudas frenzy like reef sharks. Sketchy to say the least. I leave them alone for sure. Not worth getting bit. That being said, S. Florida is pretty overfished so I can understand why you guys take them.

I really like the movie Shotgun Stories for some reason. I'm gonna check out Happy People tomorrow. This is a great thread!

I bought an Oceanic Shadow mask a year ago and it could not get it to stop fogging. I did the lighter thing, toothpaste, used baby shampoo before diving, nothing would work! I finally tried using the coarse scrubbing side of a dish sponge and some soap and scrubbed the she-ite out of it inside and out. At this point I didn't care if it scratched the lens. If it scratched it up I'd just throw it away because I was never gonna dive with that fogging piece of crap again... No scratches and no more fog. I got lucky!

Everyone that I know who has tried the Zero3 mask complains that it crushes the bridge of their nose. I tried it on and it definitely doesn't fit me. The Sporasub Mystic is a much nicer fit. I've been using a frameless mask that's not too low volume for a while, but I think I may try one of the Micromasks in Hawaii this winter. Everybody raves them

Quick after work dive off of the yaks to get some dinner. Vis was as good as it gets for this time of year. Saw a nice Redfish too which is rare at this spot. Unfortunately, this was probably the last day for diving for this year. I hope that I'm wrong. Thanks guys!

Thanks Hank. That fish was a Red Drum, or Redfish if you're from FL or around the gulf. They are illegal to spear here in North Carolina. Super fun to catch on rod and reel though, and they are pretty tasty as well.

Nobody ever posts in this section so heres a short video of my buddy Jeff and I getting some fish after work off of the yaks. Thanks!

Awesome. So jealous of the vis you guys get on shore/yak dives.

I believe that reel was designed to be used while holding the gun upside down. That is why the handle seems funky.

I've got a Liquid Image HD 720 camera mask. It's black.
Also have an old blue mimetic Omer 3mm top size large that is too small for my fat arse. It's in poor compressed shape. I think of it as a rashguard.
Up for trades for other spear stuff. -
You could try putting Shoe Goo or Goop! all over the bottoms and stressed areas. Other than that just try to find some on sale and buy a few pairs. Nice halibut in your avatar man!

Yeah man. Start at the tail and cut towards the head. Night and day difference.
1. Starting @ tail cutting towards head with razorknife, cut an outline for your filet.
2. Peel off skin with pliers.
3. Filet fish as normal.
4. Cut into strips, lightly flour and fry.
5 Insert into soft taco shells with your favorite toppings.
6 Add beer -
Hard to beat the Gray Triggerfish on the table. My fav top 3 fish are flounder, triggerfish, and hogfish. For those of you that don't know, cleaning a triggerfish backwards is much easier.

If you notice the line that is above the gill plate towards the fishes mouth (about an inch in front of the blade tip in the photo). Put your knife at the beginning of the line and press in and chop down. You'll hear a crunch if you're in the right spot. This kills the fish as well as bleeds it. Also you can poke the fish down by it's tail on the line to bleed it the rest of the way. This is how sushi grade flounder is prepared by commercial fisherman. Oh yeah both cuts/pokes are done on the bottom side of the fish.
