can you post pics of the odor broken down please?

I am intrigued about how you would assemble the parts

how do I post pictures??? I have the one piece so the only "pieces" per se are the tip, main shaft, and the band. I think im going to buy the pieces to make a hollow one and see how it turns out... lunker im thinking about it and depending on how mine turns out I may be able to make you something that you could use on your yak...

so I had a thought today after using the ray odor a bit... I can order aluminum tube and 2 small solid pieces (for each end) to make lighter version of the ray odor spear, supplies would cost about 30 bucks shipped. Total weight savings from the odor to my version would be about 5.6 ounces ( from 2.16 pounds to 1.81 pounds - without band or tip but those two things are constant) My question is how much faster would the spear be? assuming I left the band the same... I figure any reduction in weight will result in an increase in speed. the only other details being that mine would be 3/4" outside diameter versus 5/8" which i figure is minuscule in regards to the increase in drag versus the improved grip... What do you guys think??

    mrmike---thank you sir.:toast:
That may be exactly what I am looking for.
Can your dad spot weld a small pin to the top of my SS spear also?
I can pay cash for any fabrication
I'll get back to you in the next day or so.
    Again thank you

we dont have a spot welder but he can tack it(which sounds like what your talking about), just fyi he tig welds. I will try to talk to him and see if/when he could do it. also do you need the battery box fabbed up or will you do the fab work and hell just have to weld it? only reason i ask is because he doesnt have lots of spare time.

my dad can weld stainless if you decide to go that route. let me know if you want to go that route and ill talk to him. he can also do aluminum if you want to save some weight.

Kyle and I will probably go out as well for a beach dive on Thursday or If my friends in town for the expo get a boat to rent we may also have room for more to boat dive, will keep in touch anyway.

let me know what you do or if you want to meet up

yeah it was a pretty tough leg workout, thats the farthest ive swam off of any beach around here.

Im off thursday and friday, if anyone wants to go out just shoot me a PM looks the the winds will be 5-10 out of the s or sw

LunkerBuster---him trying to steal my chum bag was just a matter of princible. It was MY chum bag he was trying to steal. (besides, the chum bag was hanging on my yak anchor line an I didn't want
    to loose my yak too.

    mrmike---glad u got out today.
Looked a little rough to go out to the 3rd on a yak today. Congrats on roughing it out.
Meade an Dania seems to be getting fished out. Moving Target went out to a number I gave him today an only saw 3 hogs all day
(an Moving Target is a very good Indian)

it was rough swimming to the 3rd reef today, I saw a yak out there it was a small one with 2 younger guys on it (16ish) didnt look like they had much luck either

Mike is this your first time using a polespear? if so you should get a paralyzer tip as it is a much easier way to hunt small fish and learn how to be smooth with the spear

no not my first time but ive only ever used the small lightweight fiberglass ones with the paralyzer tip. wielding the ray odor is a far bigger taskand the 30" tip was just too much. without glasses I dont have the luxury of seeing fish a long way off so by the time I can see them I couldnt dive and get a good angle with such a long spear, next time hopefully i'll have a prescription mask or ill use the 12" tip. Oh, I also saw some pretty big rainbow runners today too but didnt have the range to get a shot because they wouldnt let me get close

got to go out and shoot the ray odor today, unfortunately i still need lots of practice, didnt see a whole lot to shoot at anyway. it is slow but I dont think im releasing it completely, I need to attach a line to it so I can completely let go. Tried to release it and just snag the band as it shot through my hand... it moved alot faster but once the band stretched the spear came flying back at me backwards and whacked me in the hand, that hurt alot. after that I considered removing the point and just beating fish to death. Anyway I am going to add a line and try the 12" tip next time. With the 30" tip its about 8.5' long and too big to use in 15-20 feet of water. I also need to practice stalking and dive angles because I dove at a nice mangrove and by the time I was close enough the point was past him and he actually came and nipped at the flopper ( i felt like an idiot - here is my prey attacking my weapon):S

I found a chum bag today I could give you so you dont have to fight the sharks for them in the future haha, went out today and only say a trigger, vis was good at the 2nd and 3rd reef but poor at the first.

I am going to try using a bit of this stuff on my polespear to make a fixed grip...interested to see how or if it works for that application

Let me know how it goes im trying to think of something to improve my grip on the odor, I was thinking a thin coat of herculiner, but don't know how that would turn out

so today when we got into a school of 50+ schoolies 12 miles offshore, i couldve shot them with the spear???? damnt next year ill bring the spear we always go out offshore (300+ ft) after tuna and dolphin... If FWC pulls us over how do I prove that they were shot that far off?

haha funny you say that I shoot a ray odor and a .45/70 levergun.

LB Im a little worried about floating around in the water this weekend as well ive almost been hit enough during the week, no need to go out with all the drunk crazies on a holiday weekend
