i dont work on the rigs per se we pull up on our dive support vessel set out our anchor spread or use dynamic positioning to get in as close and safe as possible.............yes ive seen monsters down there some have been more than 6 feet belly to back...... grouper, snapper, barracuda, mahi, just to name a few of the sport fish but it depends on where in the world im diving ive seen so many different species.....the deepest ive been is 783fsw myself and a few other saturation divers have come up with a procedure to bring fish to the surface after they have been laid to rest ........yes we have video cameras on our dive helmets.........most of my work is done on bottom usually not great vis..........inspection jobs are always daylight diving with good vis usually mid water work
-
wow , that souds awsome.
-
Wow that's deep.
-
thats beyond deep.
-
some of the guys in my company have been past 1,000 fsw:@ my company holds the record for the deepest working dive in the gulf of mexico 1,075 fsw if im not mistaken

That is certifiably extreme. What's the procedure and gas,in short?
google saturation diving it will explain all, we use a mix of helium and oxygen usually a 86% he 14% o2 mix
-
but that should be in a cage or something right?

but that should be in a cage or something right?
perhaps you are referring to the stage we use when we do surface mixed gas diving or you might be thinking of the diving bell we use for saturation diving....these pics are of the diving bell for saturation
-
here are a couple of pics of from some fish caught on a job in the bay of campeche mexico.. might have been a handline for the cuda?? the 2nd pic is of the stage we use for surface air diving
-
Thanks for the pics. It's a whole other dimension.
-
also help in the training of nasa astronauts but there isnt much money in it so ive been told
-
I like those last images Shaft, have you done that? How about a JIM suite?
Cheers, Don -
hi don, no i havent been involved in the training,my company always keeps me busy with other projects, as far as the 1 atmosphere suits go only 2 companies i know of use them to any extent, oceaneering has what they call the w.a.s.p suit and american oilfield divers/stolt has them as well, the thing is you have to be a certain height and weight to be a pilot as the suit only comes in 1 size, a few fellow divers ive met thru the years have been pilots for those companies
-
some of the suits look like this each company has thier own design
-
Interesting images. How deep is that pool?
-
