I need to install two new RA barrel plugs in Hau's carbon fiber gun. Should I use an adhesive, or a lubricant, while doing this? If adhesive, any particular type?
New barrel plugs - Use adhesive?

jeff,
when I've done mine in RA and rabitech barrels, the plug usually goes in very tight, so I just put some silicone ahead of it in the barrell and in the back of it to make sure it's 100% sealed and just push it in to the desired position. -
Tin Man---I have always used wet suit glue with good results.
What I do is to lube the barrel and plug with the wet suit glue, then immediatly push the plug in to the desirede depth and then stand the barrel almost perfectly upright with the new plug nearest the floor. That way any excess wet suit glue flows down and against the new plug.
The next day I do the same procedure to the other end of the barrel.
Hope this helps. -
Thanks guys. I may have to reduce the plug diameter just a hair to go into the CF tube's smaller ID, so I would like to use some adhesive just to be safe.
Hau - I got the plugs today. Should have your baby in the mail Monday.

I was told a while back that epoxy is used to set the plug. I'll try to confirm and post back.

Thanks Dan.

I heard hau is a 100'+ diver, I would set the plug with 3M 5200.:D
Don -
Rick Bettua at Aimrite doubble plugs my guns and uses 5200. I have flooded many barrels when diving deep on both my Wong and Aimrite guns. I think Aquaseal would also be a good way to go for the deep stuff.
Cheers,

I like Aquaseal for many applications.

Hau, you must be soooo excited

are you guys implying that if I'm diving say 90' the plug that I set on one of my guns with just silicone could move?
