Too Many of Us Dive With Too Much Weight... A Plea by Paul

  • If the fish are at the top of the water column or shallow then the extra weight is a plus. I like to be able to exhale and sink out at the surface.

    Just not too deep.;)

  • Cool pic Don.

The fins were Camo'ed with blue spattered paint and hand painted bait.( still have them)
Check out the bike tube fanny loops filled with lead shot, they connect to a crotch loop. The belt has d-rings, left and right Velcro pouches and a snap shackle at the back. Great for diving deep caves in Baha, I would snap my drag line and leave the belt in front of the cave or crevice, then pull it back up from the surface.
I didn't have a buddy to dive with so this was the best I could do. I wont be doing that any more as it was not a good idea to dive grouper alone. I have tried to learn from my friends mistakes.:(

    Cheers, Don

  • Hey paul, nice video n thanks i wil try it .dive with out any weight one cause i had back surgery 2 after 4 hours of diving my back is killing me because of the weight ..so if i am diving past 50 feet i will use only 6 pounds with a 3m suit under that it is about 12 to 16 pounds which does not make it easy for me ......

  • dparache, for the back problem you can try; a rubber belt, many small evenly distributed weights, wear the belt low on the hips. Just the rubber belt and small weights and I forgot I ever had back pain while diving. If this doesn't work maybe a weight vest will help to further distribute the weight.

That's a good point....you can also move your weights towards the front of your belt ie. your center.
