What kind of fish is this? Evidently caught with line and in Miami area.

Identify this fish

Some type of tilefish, I think.
-
It's definitely a Tilefish. Can you see on its Dorsal that it has a somewhat large fin then space and then all the regular ones? Good Eats.
-
In Venezuela we call it "Doncella" is a deep water fish, very good eating. You will never see one in the water... 300+ feet.
Lopholatilus villarii is the scientifical name.

tile fish

Golden Tilefish to be exact, family of the grey tilefish

You guys are good. Since I don't line fish I guess I never will see this fish. It does look good to eat.

By choice?
-
I could say it's by choice but I can't help being bored with line fishing so maybe it's not by choice.
-
If I dropped you on a spot with no fish, would you be bored? Same thing for h/l you gotta find the fish. Just like Bluwater spearing, finding the fish is the hardest part.
I do understand your POV, I would rather spear too, but I love both. There are so many ways/rigs, baits etc. to catch fish, that it's almost a science. Plus, it gives you something to do at night. -
I wouldn't be as bored because I'd still be diving and seeing all kinds of stuff. I could just work on my breath hold.

Next time we go out swordfishing at night I'll make sure to call you. If you get bored you can always jump overboard.:thumbsup2::D:thumbsup2:
