I'll have to wait for Dan's donated Riffe stock to arrive so that I can confirm the fit, but here's what I have so far. The Hogue isn't my favorit AR-15 grip, but it definately directs the hand higher up against the stock than does the standard Riffe handle.

Photobucket is on the fritz, I really want to see the pics.

Tin, how does the trigger guard width with compare with say a 1911 ?
Cheers Don -
I'll do this for now, and delete it later when Photobucket is back up.

Cheers DonDon - I don't know what the width of a 1911 trigger guard is, but mine is 5/8" wide.

As always your craftsmanship is impeccable. Any particular reason why you went with the angular style?

There were places (like along the sides) where I simply couldn't cut rounded corners with the tooling that I have available. The trigger guard could have been more sculpted, but it was near the end and I just got in a hurry to get it done.

Jeff, great work. Phil Herranan did the same thing for me on an old Riffe 0, but on a little more simple scale. Cut a section of pipe, and attached a Neptonics frame to it, and molded a plastic handle to that. I wish I still had the gun to show you pics.

I think I remember seeing pictures of that handle, but I couldn't figure out how to do it that way and still provide room for the saftey. That's why this one has the little stubby part in the middle of the left side. I don't know what will become of this one exactly, but I wanted to keep the safety as an option.

beautiful Jeff... i like the chunky utilitarian look of it...it adds toughness to the look of a riffe....at least in my head
great work...how many man hours? will it be something that is cost effective in the current model or would new materials be needed?

Thanks. Probably about 8 man hours in this one, so not something that I would build. I may look into having a small batch made if there is any interest, but I think that they would be cost prohibitive if they were machined from a solid piece as this one was. They would really need to be cast in either plastic or aluminum, but that would be a considerable investment.

The UnderSea Mech (which is 98% of the Riffe Mechanism design) used a very nice Cam and Lever system
that I copied for my personal stuff. The rear mech machine screw would need to be replaced with the pivot lever and cam. I can roll mine off with my thumb. If your interested I could pull one out of my first Hybrid in a couple weeks.Cheers, Don

Absolutely. I'd love to see it.

Dan's stock arrived today, so I was able to check the fit of my handle. There are a few very minor changes that I would make on future versions, but nothing substantial enough to keep it from fitting up. So here's how it would look, except maybe with black anodizing.

Wow the handle itself looks like some kind of semi auto pistol. So clean. I still feel that the grip should be higher but there's not more that can be done.
