Top Kill Sucessful

  • Don't know how much news about the spill is getting out around the area outside of the Gulf Coast, but the top kill was sucessful:thumbsup2:

Still waiting on completion of the relief wells for the "bottom kill":rolleyes1: I have heard that they have been near completion for a week or two but, as usual Federal interference stops them from proceeding.

I have also heard that portions of the Federal closure are slowly opening back up. It will be nice to be able to get back out there:)

  • Good news John, out here in Cali we get coverage of the spill ever night @ 11:00 when I watch the nightly news.
    Cheers, Don

  • Good news. I am curious to hear what changes you see if any when you get back out.

  • Great to hear! Now here's hoping the fallout damage isn't too bad, hopefully they'll have you guys up and diving in no time :)

  • The damage is already done and it is not over by a long shot unfortunately. The oil has sunk to the bottom of the ocean floor almost the entire Gulf and will kill the first building blocks of life starting with the algae and then step by step all marine life which feeds off of this chain will die, there is no candy coating this and we have not seen the last of it and this is truly sad.

  • i agree John, I am hoping that the dispesants are not going to extend this disaster into the next 60 years but that is my fear..the crude at the bottom of the ocean represents only one problem...to me the dispersed oil that will find its way into the scallop, clam, shrimp and seagrass estuaries presents a much bigger concern...i hope it is not as bad as it can be

  • This has been a fear of mine since they started using the dispersants. What did they think would happen realistically? That much oil wasn't just going to vanish. Wonder what the first big hurricane will bring to the surface and churn up. I hope for the beast but truly fear the worst here. In my studies I work with a lot of ocean scientist who share these same concerns and feel it will be the case. Just sad.
