A 500 hundred bucks for a speargun?? 1000 + bucks?? Compared with a Mossberg 500 shotgun that costs 350 brand new and you can get one for 100 bucks in tip top condition in a pawn shop. The Speargun industry is way overprized this days. What´s your insight on this matters? I ´m not a cheap bastard, but come on,
Spearguns overpriced market

Only in the USA. In Europe you can get a decent speargun for less than 200$. Not mentioning the prices in South Africa for a "Railgun"
-
I think monster is talking about wood guns. You can't get a wood gun in Europe for cheap either.
-
I agree, wood is way overrated these days. Why a wallnut rifle stock is any different from a teak s.g stock. Even the finish is better. I know teak is exotic... But come on , most yachts have teak floors and furniture, do they charge 500+ for a pice of teak wood?
-
I don't think wood is overrated.
Teak is expensive but not that expensive to charge the prices we're seeing. Wood guns do require more labor than the pipe guns, the teak has to be straight and straight again after lamination. Overall making a wood gun is more labor intensive. Making a pipe gun is just assembling the premanufactured pieces.
I believe that everyone should charge what they want for their work and time. I do resent however that some of these high prices have become the accepted norm to the extent that you can't speak against it on a public forum because you'll be regarded as "The noob spearfisher who doesn't understand the magic and complexity that is this manufacturer or that manufacturer". Knowing what goes into making a good wood gun I think that if manufacturing is approached intelligently with mass production in mind $400 for a Riffe style wood gun (with a better handle) is a fair price.
There's really not that much to a spear gun once you put all the BS aside. Good fish have been taken with a sling. Now if someone wants to pay a thousand bucks for a gun that's a functional work of art that's their deal. I just think guns are a disposable tool and can be easy on the eyes at a fraction of that cost. I remember when I saw my first wood gun and it was a Riffe. I thought it was gorgeous and when I bought it treated it with kid gloves.

That´s true, it soonly became a taboo topic. Now the spearguns prices are sky rocketed for that matter. Someone gotta tell the true about this issues. Wood guns are way over priced

Ivan and
Marco, those are works of art. Thank you for sharing. -
They look kinda complicated to me. I bet they'll be too nose heavy.
-
Those look like sea snipers, but better. I personally prefer nose heavy to too light in the nose
-
Did you see the line release on the last ones?
-
Let me see
-
Yup, kinda complicated indeed. Do they would last?
-
In a pic on an online store.. for sure! Remember now, you're in the severe criticism section
-
lol. The line release looks like a weak point indeed.

Now i am like the snake that bites his own tail. It seems that i am going to have a Kanji pelaj after all. It would be the result of a trade. My Dear friend Tim Hatler is going to give me the gun in exchange of some gear. The guns lists for more than 500 usd. :0 there is no way in the world that i could spend that insane amount of money in a railgun, no matter how good it is. Honestly I am happy (and anxious) for the trade. Let see how the gun performs hurting the local protein.
