Spearboard coercion of sponsors

    What was bewildering to me was the fact that i told him what my cash rate was. His disapointment when he realized that he would not be able to fix his boat for free was obvious. He started accusing me of backing out, that we had a "deal", that my wife was controlling me. All actions of a dasperate, broke ass ~`~`~`~`tard. Why not justpay for the needed services like any other honorable person? Keyword here: honorable.

    Short description of the reasoning behind my final ban on Spearboard (I asked him to delete my nsearch acct first, then came back about a year later using an alias, of which was finally banned for exposing his behavior towards the spearfishing community.)


    Most everyone knows that Tony first bought Spearfishing Magazine prior to becoming the owner of Spearboard. After about 1.5 years he successfully ran the magazine into the ground and the issues stopped. I was poking around the Spearfishing Magazine website about a year or so later because he used it as a platform to host his tournament documents (another unsuccessful venture). On the Spearfishing Magazine I stumble onto a page that allowed unsuspecting users to sign up for a Spearfishing Magazine subscription :angry1:. Working direct credit/debt card payment shopping cart links and everything, just as if the magazine was in full production mode. Only Tony knows how many unsuspecting divers signed up for a subscription to a magazine that they never received one f'n issue. So I immediately called him out on the deal on Spearboard and that was the final straw, he took down my posts, and banned my work IP address after sending me a PM threatning to contact my employer and providing them with the number of SB hits I had per day or something along those lines. Within 2 days the paypal links on his Spearfishing Mag site were taken down so it was worth it.

    Good thing is i know he probably is reading this thread. even better is, he's completely incapable of doing anything about it for the first time.:nono:

    Here's a funny turn of events. I have been in contact with the guy who was told to contact me on SB. His email address was on his post.
    As it turns out, I won't be able to hook up with him to dive because he's coming in on a cruise ship and we're time and distance limited. But in emails exchanged, I found he works for a seafood trading company in the US.....and we just happen to be looking for buyers in the US for our shrimp. We're working on that possibility now.
    So....I guess I have Tony to thank? haha THANKS, Tony. But don't hold your breath waiting for any finder's fee check in the mail.

    This latest thread is an interesting example of how far reaching grogan's megalomania is. In his mind he sees himself as controlling the situation with his usual smoke and mirrors routine, so he's letting the thread stand. The truth is clear to anyone paying attention to Saltyballs who's posts I'm enjoying. His ability to cut through grogan's BS is noteworthy, I couldn't have done it better. Another thing that's apparent about the grogan is something that I've been saying for a long time, he doesn't accept that a forum is about the members first. No matter how you twist it without members there is no community. To him it's about sponsors and money, probably because he doesn't feel accepted by his own community. I do believe he'll come to his senses sooner or later and unfortunately delete that great thread.

    It was a coincidence that yesterday I was talking to Dean about metals and shop time, he had nothing but praise for Dan and and some of his products.

    Thanks Don. I know Dean makes spears, and dealing with him it was clear that he's conscientious about his product which says a lot. But I'm not sure he's Addiction spears? Or maybe that's not at all what you meant.


    BTW I predicted that thread will disappear and it did.
