Whether 38" is true band stretch or the total length of the stock, to me that's a dirty water gun.
It's the total length of the stock. As I do more research on the subject the blue water guns do run longer. Is 5' to 6' the usual length of the big guns?

A lot of blue water guys are getting away from the 72" cannons and going towards a more maneuverable 65". I have a 61" and it barely has the range that a true blue water gun should have.
You could turn that stock into a hybrid though....
i agree, that is way too short for a BW gun unless you go hybrid and that is a difficult build.
sounds like a very nice bit of wood though
I say go for it, do your research and ask lots of questions. If you work slow you can limit your mistakes and make a badass gun.
