wong hibrid speargun

  • hoo man cuando entre al foro hable en español y casi nadie me contestaba hasta me criticaron diciendome que como yo lograba comunicarme aqui en estados unidos,y ahora me ves dandome cabesasos intentando escribir en ingles.

  • thanks for response ,now,i want know wath is the distance between loading butt and the andle in a mid handle daryl wong ,sorry for my insistence but a need to know this for build me hibrid, thanks spearos

Since your custom building it, I would fit it to my body. Measure the distance from the Y between you thumb and index finger to the back of your bent elbow. You don't want it so long you need to straighten your arm to track it.

  • I've built a couple of Hybrids now and i don't think i would state that they are easier to build then a normal timber gun, they cost more to build and are def. more time consuming.

I love shooting hybrids, they seem to track and move around so much easier than a pipe gun or a full timber gun - however i do understand Dan as they do get some getting used to finding a comfortable way to hold them. I don't really see how they are any different to aim though - to me i just point and shoot all my guns!

Interesting hearing different opinions though :thumbsup2:

  • Regarding overpowering Wong hybrids, I've tried it a few times.

I've put three 9/16 band on my first 55 Wong that he put two on when he gave it to me. I couldn't hit anything. I don't think it's shaft wobble because it's semi enclosed track. But it was probably the recoil lifting the muzzle a bit making me shoot low.

I went back to two bands, which looking back, I should go back to 9/16 also. With the original setup, one of the first fish I shot here was a 43 lb cubera. Long shot too. I was on top of his hole and had chummed it. I came back and there he was, looking out into the channel. I hit him near the lateral line going forward. The shaft came out through the gill plate. Solid shot.

Now, Jake the muscle man has convinced me to use 5/8. He even shorted his to 24 inches from the 26 and 27 that Daryl puts on them. I guess I'm getting used to it but I'm going back to thinking that the smooth shooting 9/16 may be the best. I think I actually tense up right at the trigger pull anticipating the recoil.

I'm not a gun expert by any means. I've only shot Riffes and Wongs since I seriously started spearfishing. But that's a little I've learned.

I have Rear Handle Plus hybrids so I can't help you on that one. So, without calling Daryl, and actually he probably would be very helpful if you ask him these questions, I would measure the gun on the screen on his website and do the algebraic equation to figure out that measurement.

(if pic is 100 millimeters long and handle is 25 millimeter from end then real gun is 55 inches long so .25 of 55 inches would be the distance) I think....I took Algebra a Loooooooonnnnng time ago. :D

  • i dont know nothing about algebra or math,in this clas i am a burro but your idea is good i take in the pictures the handle who reference ,measure the handle i know how many handles is in the stock in real scale .thanks man for the help .
