wong hibrid speargun

  • hello mens, can somebody tell me wath is the measurement of wood stock of daryl wong?tall and width (alto y ancho) i hope your help ,thanks

  • There are a lot of models. Which one are you asking about?
    Hybrid - Wongguns.com

A GR 55 hybrid stock is 69.5 cm long including the butt plate.
It's 4 cm wide and 4.8 cm deep at the butt end. It slightly tapers to the muzzle end (where the carbon or kevlar barrel starts) but not much. I would guess less than half cm on each side.

  • Hybrids are neat guns unless you overpower them. There is no way an hybrid could handle more then 2 rubbers in 16 mm which is the best set up for them, even the magnums. If you are considering getting one, rig it with two 16 mm rubbers and a 7,5 mm shaft. Hell even two 14 mm rubbers are a better compromise for them. You`ll end up getting the best of your set up and you`ll totally love`em. Great semi custom guns with very nice craftmanship. Wood measurement differences are marginal in this respect- I would recommend a regular hybrid and spend the extra money in a nice slip tip.

  • Just for the record, If I were looking for a Wong gun right now it would certainly be the Bluewater Mahi, the best in the Wong line up IMO. I have shot all Wong models and the mahi rocks.

    Good luck!

My 60 gr plus has 3 bands on it and it has no issues firing. It takes out a double wrap of mono out and yanks the floatline about 4 or 5 feet out. Shoots dead on.

Ill try and take some measurements when i get home today. Its monday night, and i usually go get drunk and play bingo at the KOA so it might have to wait till later. There is a big difference between the GR and the reef gun. So you should probably tell us what kind and size gun you plan on making so we can help out. Thanks

Are we only talking about Wong Hybirds?

I think we first need to define a Hybird gun.

Hybird; Anything made combining two different elements.
Composite; Formed or composed of heterogeneous (composed of dissimilar parts) parts.

The Terry Maas '' Hybird '' was teak body, Stainless barrel, and held 3-5/8's bands.
Don Paul ''Hybird'' Teak and 6061T6 aluminum/foam barrel, held 3 to 4- 5/8's bands.
Don Paul ''Hybird'' Double. Lacewood,7075T6 aluminum rectangle tube, Boron/Carbon fairing, 4-5/8's bands.
John Warren ''Hybird'' Stainless barrel, foamed and fiberglass body, carbon fiber reinforced.5-5/8's bands.

Wong ''Hybird'' could have a Ti or Carbon fiber tube from what I've seen. I have never shot one so, I don't know what they use for power.

Now we need to define what a hot chick is.:D;)

    Cheers, Don

  • i am speak about only wong guns,i want built a similar speargun and need some information,mi speargun would have 60 inch so i thin is 50. 50 barrel and stock ,or not?

  • dan you don't like the hibrids, for mi is a beautifull model speargun,i have pneumatics, wood double rubbers, rollers but not hibrids ,i want to make me one ,i haven't shoot never a hibrid but i would like ,saludos

  • Undersea, have you ever shot a hybrid? In case you haven't, try before you commit to this project. Personally I wouldn't use the best most expensive custom hybrid if it was given to me free.

    Not even once?

Building a hybrid actually might be easier for some people depending on what tools they have available. It cuts out having to make a track and all the shaping of making the barrel and muzzle. It could be difficult to make the hole for the barrel to go into but beyond that and the trigger pocket it seems a little easier. Granted Ive never tried to build a conventional hybrid but thats my initial thoughts.

  • I have owned 3 Wong hybrids, all three of them were Mags, 60, 55 , and 50. I have found that they perform superbly (for me) with just 2 bands, even the 60".

IMO, the hybrid (wooden base with a cf barrel inserted) is a superior gun design for SMALL TO MEDIUM GUNS. In which the manuverability and the solid wood third is a major advantage over rearhandle euro type guns. The heavier, longer ones, does not add to a better balance and or power IMO. Since three strong bands are too much for the mass of the gun.

  • Ill admit I think they look cool as hell and I would not throw one away. I have always thought I'd give one a try if I won one

What do you dislike so much? Just a failed compromise of the two styles?

    i like to spear fish

  • thanks for response ,now,i want know wath is the distance between loading butt and the andle in a mid handle daryl wong ,sorry for my insistence but a need to know this for build me hibrid, thanks spearos
