cobia high season there... spotted any in the rig?i have seen 2, but not landed one since last year. October/November is a good time, big schools migrating East for winter.

Part II;
Started another week off last Thursday. Snapper season opened again in State waters. The issue is, although Alabama considers state waters to nine miles, the Federal Government only recognizes state waters to 3 miles. With that said, there is a risk of being in violation if checked by federal authorities past 3 miles. This kept us within 3 miles while hunting snapper.
A strong Southwesterly wind combined with an outgoing tide made for bad visibility and strong current. This makes for challenging conditions on the platforms. The current was very strong for the first ten feet, and in the current, the visibility was about 3'. After that, the visibility "increased" to around 15'. So. imagine diving thru the top layer, down to 45', spearing a fish, coming back thru the overhead obstructions, and back to the boat. You are mindful of your shot placement, even on small fish such as snapper because a tangle can take many dives and over an hour to free up in these conditions. A 30 second breath hold at 40' was about all I could do that day.
But, you take the good with the bad, and landing fish when its like this always feels like an accomplishment.
Hope you like the pictures.

Last trip of this vacation. Got a limit of snapper, but this one was the largest. Used a Pelaj Nemisis that I recently repaired. Rigged it with a single tight 18mm band, and a 6.5mm Sandovick shaft. Shoots like a different gun now.
Going back to work, I need the rest.
