That is so lame. Now, an upgrade is not necessarily worth it. Yes, the HD2 is a better camera but HD1 is still very good.......The camera can only do all the FOVs in 1080p. That is very disappointing...
Agreed. If buying new, I'd get the 2, but I don't anticipate upgrading from my current set up.

I just looked over the comp sheet, the 2 looks like the ticket. I esp like that it has an LED on the back, that will come in handy for my sling cam and help reduce missed footage. I like the idea of a more narrow FOV to make the footage more realistic.

Thanks Greek. Looks like I need to get a new GoPro.

imo, the 90 fov in 720p with 60fps looks like the best option.
You don't want a big FOV because fish will look very small and far away. 90 FOV will look normal.
The 60fps will be nice and smooth when you are using it on your head and for slow mo
and 720p is a high enough res for clarity
This camera is of higher quality so the 720p might look better than previous model. That is just speculation though.
People are going crazy over the 120fps but that is poor resolution and not good for us.
Maybe stupid question, but what is the current FOV on the standard GoPro HD?
Is there any vinietting w/ the flat lens on the 720 setting?

Yeah thanks, tomorrow is the day. That is some nice shooting, hope you make it over next weekend

2 Suggestions that may make life easier:
1. Use a 10cc syringe and 18g or 22g needle to apply the glue. You will be able to do it w/ more control and less waste that the regular package.
2. You could cut a section of thin walled PVC longitudinally and use it to apply pressure as you glue proximal to distal on the blade. Pressure would be determined by the diameter of the PVC and the width of the cut, but you could just slide it down as you glued it

Sweet video! Makes me jones to get over. I'm on baby watch, but at least I haven't been tortured w/ calm seas. I'm hoping to pull a few combo wahoo/sling day trips this winter in the wx works out. Will keep you informed.
That was a nice covey of hogs when you picked off that nice one. The last hog had some good luck on his side. What was that, 50ft or so? Nice diving man.

nice fish and pic

Lunk,
No need. I was being completely sarcastic. I was just kidding based on that Persistent fiasco on that other board.
That said, if you are training any hot young female spearo's, feel free to post the training updates.:D

Very nice fish and report. Following a mutton in 100' is quite a feat.
+1
Great report, great shooting

Cool. An LCD bacpac would be handy with that setup.
It would definitley be handy, esp when filming in the second person perspective. That and showing my dumb ass when the camera is on and when it's off. :nutkick:

Nice vid Nat. I'm not sure if in some parts your camera is mounted on the polespear. If so please post a pic of how it's attached.
Dan, it's actually mounted on my Hawaiian sling shooter, not a pole spear. The shaft is visible in all of the first person perspective shots. If I am filming someone else or have someone film me, then I remove the shaft for an uncluttered frame. The camera always stays on the shooter. Works out pretty well, sometimes don't see much when shooting rocked up fish though.
I just used some aluminum bar stock from home depot and bent it around in a vise. Used stainless screws, if I were during it over I would use either flat heads or finish washers. I used a GoPro tripod mount secured w. another SS bolt from HD that I cut the threads to fit.

I really liked that, nice vid, good shots and great sound track:thumbsup2: What stiffness are the C90's ?
Cheers, Don
Thanks. C90's are a "medium" in Omer FPs.

We were finally able to make it across again. I had a new pair of Speardiver C90 fins that I have been dying to try out. We had 2 trips blown off by a TS and Irene, but the wx and work schedules finally came together and were able to make it across.
Cleared saturday, picked up a driver and hit the water. The viz was pretty bad and resulted in tough sledding. there was still a pretty good ground swell breaking on the outter reefsf. After several hours in the water, I didn't even see even a borderline hogfish. There were plenty of muttons, and the low viz made them less weary. Passed on a bunch of shots that werem't clear cut scoop and scores for fear of maimed fish and lost gear. Ended up w/ more turtle than fish footage, but had a good time anyway. After a good meal at Etta Janes and some drinks at Josey Wale's, sleep cam easy.
Day two was more productive. Hit some spots north side or Matanilla on the way home and did ok. No trophies, but a welcome relief after day 1.
Had a great time and enjoyed the C90's. I was very impressed w/ how well they did swimming up current or when I needed to de-de after a fish.

Nice. My grandfather was a sporting goods manufactures rep and I always loved seeing the Nimrods in the catalogs.
We used to have one of those pole spear/Hawaiian slings w/ the catch (bottom-most spear) when I was a kid.

Snook Nook's was older than dirt and not recently certified. He finally had it certified at New England Fish Market in Jensen.
Cool. I never would have thought of them.

[QUOTE=Rolo;54876. From Port St. Lucie, to Stuart and finally Jensen Beach, he traveled with a fish for several hours and finally received a certified weight of over 45 pounds and now a pending world record.
[/QUOTE]Nice. Both fish actually. Where did you find the certified scale? Snook Nook?

Solid shore day.
