Such an open ended question, but I am sure that you could find something you liked. You could be 5 minutes from the beach on a 1/4 acre lot or an hour and a half from either coast and on large acrage.

okay..very very dissappointed with the videos..i have to really think about just leaving it on at all times because I didnt capture anything cool underwater..it was on the gun for the bad vis area inshore...weak..oh well I was able to get a few shots.

Bro, don't sweat it. I have done a fair amount of filming with the GoPros and still F it up too often. There is definitely a learning curve and some of my best shots are undocumented. I still make mistakes and I think that I have it down pretty good. Just keep shooting...fish and video.

I gotta ask, you freeze your fish whole? Do you at least gut them? Why not fillet them first?

    Congrats on the mutton

as for now i'm walking about 2 hours a day. i'd rather run but it hurts. and when i get home i feel better. later it comes back. but at least im ok for a bit and im not sitting around and gaining weight. i heat up the area with a hair dryer and my wife massages a bit. when i get to cuba i'll take care of it with the cost close to nothing, i dont have insurance , i cancelled it after my last accident because the cost went up to much.

Running tends to put you in hyper extension as well and my aggrevate things. Try cycling/spin/exercise bike if you have access. It encourages lumbar flexion and may relieve your symptoms. A way of getting the aerobic exercise w/o aggrevating your symptoms.

    Sucks.

In the absence of a neuroligical deficit, MRI wouldn't necessarily be the first step. Bad news is, that spearfishing may exacerbate your symtoms in the short term. Spinal stenois is stereotypically relieved w/ lumbar flexion. Unfortunately, surface swimming promotes lumbar extension which can bring about flare ups.

Initaially, I'd try a period of self-direct exercises concentrating on your core strength - abs, obliques, paraspinal muscles. If you see a physcian, a medrol dose pack may be helpful. If that fails to result in improvement and epidural is certianly reasonable.

Great post, I really enjoyed the video.:thumbsup2: I kept thinking, either the camera is making his shaft look bent, or it's bent.. turns out it was bent. :D

Yeah, operator error big time. I was diving with a bent shaft most of day 2. I was shooting relatively poorly and just figured it was the anjeo from the night before. I did not notice until the end of the day when I airballed the 2 separate hog fish on the sam drop, esp that point freaking blank one.:D

Another funky thing is some of the footage. I am using a standard GoPro HD and my brother has the new one. I am using the R5 setting and I am pretty sure that he is too, but need to check. At the 3:33 mark or so, I dive down and shoot a hog, the water is nice and blue. I then use his footage of me diving down to recover same hog from a ledge, and the water is green-tinged. I inserted my footage of same dive and water is blue. :confused2:

Nice vid. You're living it up.

What are the costs involved spearfishing in the Bahamas? I don't mean the gas money, rather permits and such.

BTW there's a Bahamas section if you want to post the reports there.

Hadn't noticed the Bahama section before. I just check the "New Posts" when I log on. That would be more appropriate though.

Cost-wise, the permits aren't bad. It has been $150 for boat under 35ft and $300 for boats larger than 35, but may have recently changed to 30ft as the cut off. I read conflicting reports on that. You get 1 repeat trip with in 90 days as well, so functionally it cuts the cost to $75 or $150 per trip. There are some additional fees depending on the # of people you have, but only like $20 a head.

Gas on the other hand is like $6.25 per gallon right right at Grand.

Other costs are group dependent. Rooms and slip at Rosies/Max/ect on Grand aren't bad. I think 2 rooms and a sliip were <$200. Water is expensive though if you need any.

We always pick up a guide as well (150 or so). They drive the boat and allow us all to dive. No arguments on who isn't driving enough, LOL. Plus he cleans the fish while we relax w/ Rum drinks. Well worth the $$$, plus it puts some $$ in the local's pockets.

There are plenty of food options on Grand, most of which are very good. ALternatively, you can bring stuff to cook/eat on the boat.

Still waiting on new boat, but luckily, i sold the old boat to a buddy of mine. Rounded up the crew and decided to make a single over nighter to Grand Cay. The forecast deteriorated for saturday am, but we decided to roll out regardless. Had the seas with us and made good time, rained (poured actually) from the bank to Walkers. Checked in with customs, then Rosie and headed out. Wx cleared up and stayed decent. Picked up some nice hogs saturday. Rolled out sunday and dove off the corner on the way home, picked up some more hogs. Didn't see any nice blacks. Thought I saw one and was going to be the hero, but it was a morey. Left the fooatge as product placement to show the Pursuit Green camo against the live bottom.

Here are some pics for the ADD crowd, and video for those who like it.

Her show aired on the outdoors channel here, if remember correctly its was only freediving and she was the only women on the show

she definitely had some episodes on scuba - middle grounds w. Dan Machon (sp) and shooting some grunts outof jupiter. Overall, I thought the show was entertaining.

Awsome video, loved the mutton shot. That was insane, that mutton was a sleep!

ha, he was after that second shaft hit him. That was the same mutton that I hit in the previous clip. He hauled ass and ran out of energy. You can see the first shaft trailing behind him.

Thanks LB. I've got plenty of blooper reel footage of airballs as well.

Thanks y'all. Definitely not getting out of boating, just time to move up. As far as the run, West End is 2 hours (80miles) and Walkers is 3 hours (110 miles). Day trips are to the West End to Memory Rock area, overnighters are to Walkers/Grand. Depths are 40-50ft.

Sniper! Finally I get to see the gopro sling rig. Those are some healthy fish :thumbsup5:

Thanks. The setup seen in the video is a GoPro roll bar mount attached to the shooter. He has one of those fancy pistol gripped shooters and it works out pretty well. I have not seen his video from the trip, but he did take that still pic of me bringing that hog up.

My setup is a little different. Here are some pics from a while back.

As an aside, the Pursuit wetsuit is killing it. Favorite piece of gear that I have.
