You know my friend. that i got some news on my own.. i just got the news a month back. that my wife is expecting...so i'm happy i get the chance to be a dad again. =)..right now i'm in the states. to work for a month then back to the desert where i will be stuck until september. Can't wait to finish my tour and be finally back to the wife for good. Well congrats and best wishes...good way for her to celebrate mnother's day with her newborn. :)

In SCUBA i have never seen someone using this type of gear. First time i saw someone with something like that was a rookie spear fisherman but he was an avid free diver. But he said he saw a documentary that Terry Maas appear on it and he saw some of the spearos using some type of coil line attaching the speargun to the weight belt. Still a big nono. sometimes what you see is not for a beginner.

Just fold like 8 inches of float line and stuck it under your belt. That will keep the gun hanging from the waist right at your side. And your hands free to deal with a fish or lobster or whatever. If you pull the gun the loopwill get out from under the belt. If you guys can understand what i mean.

Ive d used both. Tube for me period. I can use rope if needed, but if i get to choose i pick tube. There is nothing that bother me more than getting the line tangled. With rope that happen very often. And feeling the weight of the buoy with the string with fish bothers me. Tube reduces that. That for divers that goes from the shore. From boat if leaving the fish at the boat. What ever is available. I never found Tube to be slippery. If the fish is pulling extremely hard you should not be pulling extremely hard anyway to avoid the fish getting ripped. Is cheap to make a good float line. But sometimes we don't get the time to get the items. We just buy what is already build.

Dan you should carry it. or like Marco said. get the materials and build as requested by the customer. giving the hunter an option. You will make a nice profit even selling cheaper than the brand ones.

JAJAJA good one papaa, Every time there is a world cup there are threats from lots of organizations. Including Al'Qaeda fags. But most of the times is just to cause some fear in the other countries. But they know better than attack randomly and poke the hornest nest, then they will have more countyries to worry about. Hope everything goes smooth with the CUP. I never seen an italian support another countries, i guess that prove there is always one time.. =)

Nice recipe. i got one close to that one. but this one sounds awesome. I have to try this method. i've done that process of boiling first and the meat at the end was fall of the bone tender. I will give it a try. :thumbsup2:

Ive done Scuba then freedive up to 50 feet then go Scuba again. Yes, it is a risk but if you learn to use your tables and not beleive a computer you will be ok. Remember the Scuba tables for nitrogen are made for a regular average person with almost no physical condition. Super EXtremly safe numbers. For example look at a Scuba table of a Navy diver and you will start seeing what i mean and that table still very SAFE in numbers. I will give a 2 hour break then do my freediving. If it was only one scuba dive. Done it for years and years and have never had any symptoms of embolism. Damn I remember Asesino picking me up after i dove twice and taken the students back to shore, and go for the rest of the day spearfishing up to 60 foot range. So if it was impossible i should of died already. Just give at least 2 hours to let the system clean and then go for it I say. It worked for me.

My comfort area is within 9' - 15' feet. I really hate to shoot up close in open areas. I hate the fish getting all the way to the line cause is harder to handle. Unless is a hole or small cave then up and personal is ok. But you guys are right. Getting good at stalking is the key. But if a big fish is in the 15' area i think about it. Because the shot can be to weak to get a hold shot.

I guess the older we get the mind start getting aware of some dangers we don't see as yougsters. But hey we are men and of course we like some adrenaline rush every now and then. It reminds us of who we are and what life is all about. I'm a calm dude 99% of the time. But then again i hold a job that can send me overboard in no time. That 1% loves what this jobs hold for me. The experience the rush of knowing i will be seeing the enemy eye to eye in the future intrigues me. A sleeping beast you might say. That 1% i feel it while spearfishing. always on the lookout of the big predator and a chance to face off with it. That is why I enjoy going into the open sea. You never know what is going to happen. I already experienced a boat sinking and beign helped by stranger, always thinking what else could of went wrong. I learn that everytime something happens i get more relax.

this is a start.. If we post here links to information such as seasons for different fish. laws applicable to spearfishing. Contact information on where when and what is going on.? people that wants to visit PR will know where to go or contact to get the right info. Thanks Robert hopefully this works out good. Also if you know your regulations about Florida the Gulf etc. Please post your too or in a different thread according to your region and that way we can consolidate the knowledge in a few thread and not all over the forum. What you guys think about this idea. Robert just started a real nice topic that can lead to a lot of good things. :thumbsup2:

Quickclot we used them in our Combat Life Saver(CLS) Bags or IFAK (improvised First Aid Kit). Usually is easy to use but I recommend anybody to take first aid classes with how to control hemorrhage. one thing is if you ever have to use it and you apply it. DO NOT REMOVE IT :). let a certified DOCTOR DEAL WITH IT. I've seen in the ARMY a guy that put it up and then decided to take it out a half an hour later. with not to much experience and the Clot came out and the spurred bright red blood all over again. yeah some people lack common sense. =)

When you go with the family to the beach and you feel the sadness of leaving the gear at home. Never quite the same happiness. Plus don't even want to bother on getting in the water.

Psychobilly... the one with the teak is a classic.:thumbsup2: Every time i see a piece of wood I'm thinking on what potential it has in becoming a good spear gun. :laughing3:.

I have seen 2 or 3 in 23 years..close to where the rivers meet the ocean. From a boat. we landed one on rod and reel from the boat. a smaller one at 4 feet long. I thought was a reef shark. But later in the day we landed a slightly bigger Caribbean reef shark. and i saw the differences. Plus the Bull was far more aggressive than the Caribbean cousin. A nice fight on rod and reel. The other time we were diving in murky waters when 2 of them got close to check us out. then they disappeared leaving a bad unease in the atmosphere, making us to move spots due to the fact we felt there presence all the time, I was not the only one that felt we've been watched, plus they looked a little agitated with our presence, probably waiting for us to spear something. Have never seen them in clear waters. at least in PR.

Hey Dan I'm not going to say where or when. but i shot and landed one of this Nassau groupers by mistake :rolleyes1: it was in the 20+ # range a very while back over 10 years. I saw a ledge and inside the ledge i saw a big dark cave so when i checked it out I saw a set of fat lips and a big pair of eyes staring back at me and I let it fly without second thoughts knowing it was a grouper and after a short struggle i pulled the Big Mofo out of the hole. I was a very disappointed because i quickly recognized it. Went back to the boat with the fish, thinking i might have to leave it for the sharks and get rid of it becasue i don't want to bring trouble to the captain. but when the captain saw it he quickly put a big grin on his face and told me not to worry and to put it on a small cooler inside the cabin, his personal one :D that he will take care of it. And then told me that i just payed for the gas and the expenses for the day. :laughing3:. I felt bad but you know how it goes it could of happen to anyone. Honestly i haven't seen many of them in a long while. In a dark cave you see those fat lips and big eyes and you quickly think of a grouper. But my luck turn out to be one Nassau. If you cant see them sideways is hard to recognize them from the front.

Are the spotted spiny lobster regulated in Florida? Cuz I see them all the time lol

Have you let them go thinking they are the regular spiny lobster?? and they were too small. ??
That is why i posted this so people wont get that confused :laughing3:
But will be nice to know what rules they have in Florida Waters, if they have any?. I know about the spiny lobster, but that's about it. I bet they don't have any on spotted ones. or even the Spanish ones.

Honestly I don't see the big difference on taste..I love all of them including the Spanish lobster.. or cucaracha like they call it in Puerto Rico. They are good eating too. And a little harder to find than any lobster i know.

For commercial eating restaurants like the spiny lobster because the tail will be bigger. the tail on the spotted one is really small. a 2 pound spotted lobster is a rarity ..their tail will be weight in ounces not pounds.. The spiny can reach over 15 pounds if they get to live that long. I have caught a lot over 10 pounds. But a handful of spotted that will reach 2 pounds.
