Hey Dan or Greek. I have not use a pneumatic in over a decade. But i remember it was powerful and lord it was loud. I use to have a Cressi back in the days and it was like a foot long. Good for night hunting. I remember taking good care of it. How different are the pneumatics now?. Are they easier to upgrade? what about maintenance?. Greek probably can elaborate. Just a simple curiosity i got.

I'm all about practicing practicing and more practice. But also knowledge is a big part of it. Knowing how your body reacts in the water is very imperative to be more safe. That is why a freediving manual, helps but not needed, you can get the right info online this days. You see a scuba diver needs classes to understand the theory behind the discipline. To avoid the different risks in Scuba. I believe is the same in spearfishing. If you don't know what can happen then you are risking yourself without knowing or how to recognize or react to it. Some people knows what a shallow water blackout is or SWB, but do they really know why it happens?. Same principle. Breathing properly against hyperventilation?
Don't leave it to just go hunt, I'm not a fan of reading but i search every now and then about this risks so i can refresh my knowledge and stay in top of it. Telling a newbie go out there and hunt even by himself is kind of like tell them go scuba diving and forget about the course. Unnecessary risks in my honest opinion. That kind of info is what makes this forum important. I know must of us learned that way all by ourselves. Now how many of you remember or know people or friends that died because inexperience or got an accident that could of being avoided. I sure know a few. Just my 2 cents
Not trying to criticize nobody just trying to keep our new spearos safe..

    Cheers

I never tried it with fish...but with lobsters i just leave the shell outside and let the ants and time do the rest. I remember seeing a fish dead in the shore that was down to his bones. I guess pull as much meat out and let it sit in the sun and let nature do his thing. I guess the ants will get it right. Don't let it sit in the sun all the time cause it will toast the cartilage and will weaken and break. and don't expose it. or a cat or dog will get it. of course it will stink so finding a good place away is a must..

they do them with parrotfish and ray's as well. Damn everyone knows there is no way to get that much chapin in the island. They are scarce and they don't get to grow big due to overfishing. Fot the ones that don't understand Spanish Chapin equals Trunkfish. Ive seen it all my life. I used to work as a kid with my uncle in of the famous, vending Trucks in Piñones ( las guaguas de Piñones). when they used to specialize in sea food. And chapin always was something else. that is where i took the tarpoon to be processed. He got a good amount of meat out. But it tasted awful. But you all know when you stew anythig with lots of spices. you out do the real taste of the fish. and that is why they make the pastelillos, taste good. Done thousand of the damn things. Trust me i know Marco you know the rest.

I can say i tried damn tarpon about 15 years ago. I did the bat technique and what i got was really nasty. I did not like at all the taste. we took another piece near the head to boil to prepare a broth and something might have being wrong. the skin turn dark black and it stunk the place. Was disgusting. then i tried it again with a guy from the area of cangrejos for those from Puerto Rico, he owned a restaurant and he managed to get meat out but still wasn't that good. He did pastelillos wit it. I have killed barracuda and loved it. But i only kill small ones. around 5 to 7 pound max and in open water. I never got sicked. anything bigger is a big risk of ciguatera, really delicious.

For me memorial day is like everyday. My job is unique within the Army and i get to see stuff that i will take to my grave. I think about the fallen everyday because i never know when it could be my time. Today in Kuwait they have a nice ceremony for the fallen. It was sad. but really inspiring at the end.

God bless all Soldiers from all services all-round the globe. :toast:

Is an interesting alternative...I got a question about this material. when it hardened can a dremel be use to reshape or smooth some areas as to give a better looking finish to the grip. I got the same concern about getting a full grip like that. I believe the grip have to be comfortable and allow you to rearrange your fingers enough so you can change your shooting style. According to the situation that you are in. Like Dan mention a fish in a hole. Fast moving fish on your sides. etc. If i can reshape and then finish it up a little. this product is a good choice as well.

Thanks for sharing the info :thumbsup2:
