  • Hahahhahahaha, thanks guys. I´m planning a sole BW trip this summer and I want a 3-4 band gun and a 3/8 shaft. Nice recommendations. Double trouble would be my pic, just for the mojo alone!!

  • Talk to Wood Guy or Tin Man, 100% satisfaction Guaranteed. :thumbsup2: Trust me I know. The craftsmanship and the knowledge behind it, plus been able to talk fish killing language gives you that peace of mind when the job is done.

Should've kept your ono gun. :D
It's not a 30ft gun... but good all-around BW gun with the YFT world records to prove it.

3-4 bands seems a bit light for a 3/8 shaft, especially if you're trying to reach out & touch something far off. I have 5 9/16" on my 11/32" 69" seasniper tuna gun. On the 72" seasniper I've used, I tried both 5 & 6 5/8" bands with similar power.

Where's the top-secret mission going to be? Or is that to remain a secret? ;)

  • I love my Jordan Hamilton Tuna Gun. 6 bands with a 3/8 shaft and perfectly balanced and balasted. The quality and finish on this gun are top notch. The only downside is they are not cheap. It is my go to big tuna gun.
For shooting the rest of the bluewater fish you can use a 4 band gun that shoots a 5/16 shaft or go with a 150 Euro gun with 2 or 3 bands. I will be shooting my 63 Wong Hybrid Supper Magnum and my 150 Aimrite King Venom in La Paz next week for the World Cup Meet. Wahoo, Billfish and Dolphin will be the main targets. These guns work well in that environment.
Whatever you get just learn to shoot it well. Practice makes perfect:toast::toast::toast:

  • how do you load a sea sniper a dont even see the bands?? (sorry for my ignorance on this gun but is a question im asking myself for sometime now)

Don't need bands... you just point at the fish & make shooting sounds underwater "Pew pew pew pew!!!" :cool2:

Serious reply - it's a different style of bands than traditional wooden guns. The bands are tied in through the top of the gun.

One positive aspect - the bands lay parallel to the shaft & make aiming easier (IMO).
One negative aspect - you need to tie twice as many knots per set of bands!

Another try at answering this better (pics are worth a thousand words)...

    Reposted pics from this thread:

Here's a pic where you can see 2 SeaSnipers with bands tied into the muzzle.
The knot is inside the gun, so nothing sticking out to snag or look messy.
(Seasniper customs are the big blue one in middle & teak one directly to right of it)

Here are 2 pics to show what the bands look like loaded. Hard to see since they stack on the deck of the gun and don't stand out too much.

Likewise, from this thread (sorry Dan):

These pics are bit clearer in illustrating how the bands are integrated:

  • Sorry for the hijack Mr.MonsterSlayer... :)

  • That first pic is sick, all those gun from one guy:thumbsup2: and my wife ask me why I have 5 guns.

Fuzz, Do you remember Raymundo, the guy who guides Chris Chaput when he´s in town? He´s the one who is going to take me out.

And you´re right, I miss my Ono gun. I seldom used it, that´s why I parted with it, now I repent. And my very souls mourn the abscense of that mighty sword.

I am seriously considering gatting another one. Or maybe a SS ($$ :D). On the other hand The Tin man´s worksmanship is incredible.

    Thanks very much guys
