There are several “South african” speargun makers around. I believe that everyone is made in China though…

I have3 guns now, 1 is my Riffe Euro 130 which is a laser and great for clear water, a bit heavier to swim with but manageable, the next is a Riffe Euro-X 110 and an Aimrite super venom 120 which is to me the best one, smooth clean lines, great handle and trigger mechanism and light, real easy to swing and better all around for swimming and ascending with, I might just start using just Aimrite from now on and eventually sell my Riffe guns, I feel they are that good and super nice looking as well and can't beat the lifetime warranty.

I had a freedivers speargun and it was nice, a little heavy but great for the price! I wouldl ike to try an Orca it utilizes the Cressi handle/trigger.
