Hello from CA

  • Hey guys,
Most of you probably know me from the "other" forum, but if not heres my intro. I grew up between Massachusetts and California. Fishing, surfing, and diving all my life. I began spearfishing in Laguna Beach CA and Baja Mex. I spent most of my summers in San Quintin Baja where my father has a house and boat. I'm currently a senior at the California Maritime Academy where I am studying to become a Merchant Marine. I'm graduating this spring with a 3rd Mate unlimited license and plan on working on commercial ships. So far I've traveled and speared in Baja, Mainland Mex, Hawaii, Guam, Panama, Ecuador, Vietnam, and some other places I've probably forgot. Look forward to learning and contributing on the board with less of the BS

  • Don, when was the last time you visited SQ? You must remember Kelly Catian. He's doing well and still shoots some quality fish every so often. I grew up with his sons and he's shared many stories about the Neptune's diving down there years ago. I know a few still do. If you remember driving towards the Old Mill on the main road, and looking to the right you'll see Campo de Lorenzo up a ways. My dad has had a place there for over 22 years. I love it down there because its close enough to drive down for a weekend, yet far enough to get the real baja feel and enjoy killer fishing. And yes Roca Ben produced some quality fish this season!

  • Wow Roy ! Now I really feel old hearing you dive with Kelly's kids.
I sold the boat I used to use in baja for spearfishing tournaments so I don't dive there anymore, it's been
at least 8 years. I still remember when one of are guys got in trouble during a Comp when he cut
a rancher's wire fence trying too take a short cut to the boat ramp.
Your going to like the guy's on this Forum their a good bunch.
    Cheers, Don
