I like to keep flashers off my body, and I never wear white socks for booties. I have put lure tape on my
fins. gun and drag line. I only ever had 1 fin bit at the tips in French Poly.

wore them and I shot a lot of yellows off his 6.

haha, yeah.. ihave flasher tape on my old fins and I would always find mack on my 6...I figured there were sharks too, but if i don't see 'em....

cudas are reason enough to never want any flash near my face or neck, they are strong sharp and dumb...bad combo.

plus that story/myth about the skindiver who had his throat slashed because of a big chain necklace :@

i personally like a well bent spoon...mine spins tightly while making a slow spiral...small fish cannot ignore it and when they all move a few bigguns often follow...I'll take a pic later

Jimcuda was cleaning a fish with his hands in the water, I think he may have had a knife in his hand, and a cuda put a serious gash in his hand.

spearing vertical snappers again?

I used flasher tape on my fins on a trip a couple seasons back. I instantly had a posse of about 30 cudas following me a little to close for my comfort. Shot a 15 lb rainbow runner and it was instantly ripped to shreds. Shot another a little while later... ripped to shreds again. Stoned an AP and got that one in the boat. Shot another rainbow and ultimately lost my shaft due to the cuda frenzy. After the frenzy there was a huge cuda eyeing me from no more than one ft. away. I didn't no whether to slam him in the head with my empty gun or what. It ended up in a staring contest, and I eventually slowly swam away. Flasher tape came off my fins, and I had a newfound respect for the barracuda. No thanks for wearing flashy crap it's just not worth it.

very good to know we had an expirience here in puerto rico because my first speargun was a jbL carbine and the gun flash like hell...so we have seen big "cudas" really watchin us..bigger than me actually i was scared like never before..they really like "flashe" things..

but we were begginers so we didnt know why they approach like that until we buy wood guns..and of course reading the forum..and we figure out why they aproach like that to us..one(when I still had the carbine) even pursue me and try to take my fish my friend was with me and shoot it but the shaft hit the skull and never penetrated that bit**(it was an jbL explorer 36" twin band the cuda was 4ft really big for that gun...i know we had jbL we were begginers what do you expect haha!!) I almost sh** my pants..i even had a wet suit...then is started to rain and we go to the reef..we dont have boats so long wayyy to shore...I was frikin out..it was like a satanic day haha but very veryyy good expirience honestly..I learned a lot about cudas that day..since we have wood guns they dont come like that constantly...so we decided to make flashers we missed them haha and the mack to...:thumbsup2:..I almost forgot they really have a hard skull..after that expirience I read in the forum they have a hard skull and i was yeah i know haha..in the sarcastic but good to know way...

i was soo stoked i was trying to sleep but i couldnt....all i had was a big smile and thinkin about the great expirience and i remember and laugh hard ...we were three spearo partners...the one that shoot the cuda...the one that got chased and almost sh** himself (me)...and other partner he dont spearfish much so imagine him,,,I said i laugh hard cause i remember his eyes in the mask didnt fit..when the shaft didnt penetrated the skull he was like this..:@...and fall back behind us..it was the first cuda that we shoot that size but it was the rush it was chasing me..so my friend pull the trigger without thinkin it twice..good expirience to learn...My scared partner the one that doesnt spear much didnt go to the water for like 4 months haha..i learned so much in this forum i even sleep reading and reading..:D...all you guys told me really works..no expensive gear if the gear is a piece of crap you told me thats the best thing...you people explain me things the way they are..i would die being a spearo..
