Now and then I see guys talk about how their wives get upset when they go spearfishing. When I met my wife I was diving regularly, almost every other day. I wouldn't go out for the whole day but I'd do two or three hours in the afternoon to have fish for dinner. I remember early on in our relationship she asked me to explain to her how the speargun works. I showed her how the shooting line gets wrapped and hooked on the line release and how the shaft leaves the gun, and she understood perfectly.
Today she encourages my diving because she knows it makes me feel good, and after I go I'm a better person. Sometimes she'll say that I haven't gone in a while, and then I know I must be acting irritated. Just yesterday as I was heading out to dive and putting together all my stuff she reminded me to shave my upper lip which I was going to forget. That's what made me think to write this post.
