Introduction

  • Hello:

My name is Stephan, but just go by Steve. I live in Anaheim and mostly dive the Laguna Beach area. My skill level is pretty limited but I do consider myself to be a safe and considerate diver. I mostly enjoy hunting around reef structure for reef fish. I recently took my first WSB so with that out of the way I hope to finally take a halibut. Though I do have some "take" goals I'd like to scratch off my list, I don't have much of a competitive drive in regards to my spearfishing. I only compete against myself and enjoying the hunt is more important than my fish count. It would probably be safe to say that my interest in spearfishing is more of an extension of my enjoyment of hunting and fishing than it is an extension of my being a "waterman".

I don't care to mix politics with my diving discussions, but I do think it is necessary and appropriate to be involved in the political fight to preserve our rights to access and take fish.

Thanks for allowing me to join your group.

  • Welcome Stephan, we have fun here and there is much experience among the membership.
I too get involved in our local freediving legislation as well. Looking forward to seeing images of your fish in the Cali section. Just make sure the image doesn't give up a friends WSB spot as all images can be seen by anyone.
The next day you may find 5 boats and a few paddle boards on a once quite bed.
Mike up north has taken a few WSB and I will post some when I find one I think is worthy.
Please dive safe and enjoy the forum.
    Cheers, Don Paul

  • Thanks for the welcomes.

Don Paul, We've met before at one of the MLPA meetings, in Long Beach, I think. No worries about the fish pic. We've all seen a dead wsb by now so I'll just do a write up. I took the time to write it up a little elaborately for my own selfish pleasure and discarded it as childish rubbish but may as well post it in the CA section and let you all judge for your self.

Mike, thanks for inviting me to this site and for the gunny sack which I still use.

  • Welcome to the forum Steve,I see your hunting in my old neighborhood. Western high,Anaheim, class of 65':)

  • Hey Steve after I saw your fish report I knew I had to join this forum. One of these days we need to go on another dive together, look for some halibut. I've only shot one so they're still a mystery to me.
