I usually keep my lead stashed at the bottom of the bluffs. I have weights stashed at several spots around PV. Last week I had trouble finding one of my caches. I guess some one stumbled upon them. Anyhow, I need to make a few more weights but I am running low on lead. Decided to go get some free lead and beat the LA heat this afternoon. I swam out with a camera, game bag and a small float. Left the freedive fins at home and went old school with the voits.
The swell was running with the incoming tide and the spot I wanted to dive did not look good. I hit another spot and still got bounced around pretty well. Like a pinball. It was a challenge keeping the camera still. I should have brought a bigger float. I ended up off loading three times as my float got submerged. After three hours I had 45lbs of sinkers. The sinkers tend to get bunched up in low spots in the rock. It was really a fun relaxing dive. The walk out was a PITA and my calves are feeling it.

Very very cool, thank you for sharing. Makes me think there's lot's of fishing pressure in those areas.

That's alot of pissed off fishermen right there!
A very happy ladvr though, that's over $100 in lead right there, all for free! Puttin the "free" back in freediver, love it!

45 lbs is good training for any big fish you'll be hauling up :). Two weight belts worth too!

"Lead is known in the state of California for producing men's erectile disfunction"
:rolleyes1:

Marco. that's why I left California. At least now, I won't be affected by lead or anything else that only California deems harmful to the general population. It's a phenomenon that only occurs within the state borders: caused by extreme liberalism:D

Nice Mike..... now for a real workout.... leave the float at home
I've done this for years at Laguna...... but I usually limit it to 10 to 15#s per dive..... Keep the new ones for my H&L activities and re pour the old ones.
