jejeje check out the store in Spanish http://freedivingspearfishinggear.com/lang-es/ I'll keep that name until I actually have something to put in that section. Still wouldn't mind knowing what the real name is.
Do you know what a cheehe is?

I don't know polespear but in Cuba they call hawaiian sling una fija. Pantoja may be able to confirm that. Its been a while for me.

Aqui localmente Acapulco "varilla Hawaina" o Hawaina a secas:)
Saludos y buenas pescas.

En la Baja se le dice Lanza Hawaiana o simplemente una Hawaiiana. En el centro de México se le dice "Chuzo".

Dan I like the spanish version of the website :thumbsup2:website

I never heard or saw a hawaiian sling in Cuba, my cousin just came a few months ago and he'd never seen one either and he spearfished a lot. Im pretty sure a "FIJA" is a stick with one or two prongs for a tip. I may be wrong though

I guess it depends what part of the island you lived at. A FIJA was one of the most rudimentary fishing tools I've ever seen . It was made with a corn cob two long strips of bicycle inner tube and the shaft was a welding rod. Kids used to use it in the rivers to catch shrimps and small size fish.

I'm not a native speaker, but what about "arpon manual"?

The concept is just right, but it is not used like that, "fisga" is the closest term to your suggestion.
