Neoprene Core Spectra Jacket Floatline Manufacturer

  • I looked in to this a while back. It was expensive and not worth the difference in price from the Rob Allen stuff. I have a friend that uses the Riffe line and it really does not float that great. He always has a big loop dragging behind him when we dive.

Didn't know that. Cameron Kirconnel didn't mention that at all when he posted about it in a little message board that I partake in.

  • It's possible that the line GR's friend has is from Riffe's first production of this line. This float line is not wakeboarding line, it's formulated specifically for this application. What may have happened with Riffe's first lines is that the neoprene used for the core was too soft. The neoprene would compress at depth and not rebound once back at the surface. Exactly what happens to wetsuits that use neoprene that's too soft like Yamamoto 45. The solution is to use harder neoprene and I believe Riffe has done this with the latest production of this line. I know all this because I'm about to offer the same float line from Pursuit, except I'll go straight to the correct stuff. Needless to say it will be priced at a fraction of what Riffe sells it for.

That is very good to hear. I had thought about buying a wakeboard tow rope to experiment

  • Nice Dan! Any projected date? I will be needing a 75' and two 5' lines if you'll be making a variety of sizes.

  • I guess I should match the Riffe lengths. The way I see it the float line should be as long as the maximum depth you're diving plus 30ft. Since some guys dive 90ft and more I think there should definitely be a 120ft length. I may also offer it by the foot. I think I should have this float line within a month.

What are you going to do with 5' lengths? This line doesn't stretch like a bungee, it stretches about %12 and then stops.

I will be using it to connect my string of floats, but I am torn between straight line or a bungee between them...

The set up is going to be a 10' bungee to a 75' floatline, 11L RA float, 5' float line, 11L RA, 5' floatline, 20L RA

  • If your targeting Wahoo and tuna I would run a 50' bugee with a 1 atm fliat. For very large bill fish I would add
more floats if a deep canyon is near by.....back later.

Agree. OR a 10' bungee between floats will do the trick.

A bad day fishing is ALWAYS better than a good day at work.

  • And is there any idea of a date when it will be available? I need to either source or make a few new lines
