home made guns

  • hi guys just whanted to share some of my recent builds im new to this forum and would like to know some opinions or things i may imporve for the next build etc so enjoy!

first gun is a 65¨¨rear handle 8mm shaft and 3 16mm bands , enclosed track i made the design with 45 degrees cuts on the sides i shoose a rear handle because cancun waters are cristal clear so i have no problem with green water :) gun sinks with shaft and floats without.

second one is a 65¨ enclosed track 4 16mm bands and 8mm shaft gun
it uses water ballast and its a rear handle too.

let me now what you think
    cheers alex

  • hope you like them any suggestions would be greatly aprecciated thanks lunker for the kind welcome!

    Nice work.
If there is any top coat ( two pack or epoxy in the ET let it fully cure before using it where there can be sand in the water column. ET wood tracks can very easily embed sand grans into the grain or uncured top coat forever scoring the shaft and slowing the projectile. A easy way to spot this is look down the barrel as you hold the gun with the sun overhead, if it glitters in a few spots... that is worn down sand particulate which contact the shaft nullifying the shaft/water molecule interface. This water- film/shaft interface is what the shaft glides on unless the shaft or track is poorly machined or has a debured sear tooth slot. Poor rubber geometry and a un-straightened shaft after tab welding/heat treatment can deform the tail of the shaft as well.

  • I can't tell from the images, but a few inch's of ET relief with tapered lead in at the beginning of the track will help you thread the shaft into the slot in sloppy seas. Five feet of bobbing gun stock and five feet of shaft, each held with one hand can be a bitch to fornicate with while a tuna swims circles around you on the surface.
I'm a deep groovy kind of guy.....but don't let my prejudices toward ET's defer from my admiration of your gun building.:toast:

don i will consider that on my next gun builds your right

thanks lunker and matt , yes the gun is beefy because it is intented to shoot 4 16mm bands and is for helping on recoil
