I have always used "Freedivers" shafts in my Rabitech and those have been very tough and relatively cheap.

The only reason I never used reels is because I needed to reload quickly. Try reloading when you have 100ft of reel line in the water around you. Maybe I should have just reeled it in as I pulled in my fish? I am still a big fan of no reel or float and just shooting the fish and sliding my hand into its gill plate as it drags me around for 10 seconds.

I have owned Moana CF MED fins in Pathos pockets and thought they were the most powerful fins I have put on..EVER. They were very springy and extremely efficient when going up and down, made 75ft feel like 45ft after not even touching the water for 18months in chicago. So if you need to go deep without current I believe they are AWESOME!! However I actually use my fins on the surface and surface swimming all day spearfishing with them was a NIGHTMARE! I had a pair of pursuit c90s a while back that I sold when I joined the Navy, they were medium/soft in beuchat fps and I would feel quite comfortable swimming for over 12 hours a day doing 70+ all day in current with those bad boys. I didn't get much initial push from them but I would get a rhythm going and move along with ZERO effort. My technique with the fins progressed to where I could race anyone with the stiffer fins and stay with them or pass them without tiring. I may just go back to the c90s I hope they haven't changed since they first came out.
PS: I have used a few types of fins to compare them to....(DiveR(MED), Beuchat Fibra, Beuchat Carbone, Pursuit C100(MED), Cressi2000HF, Cressi 3000HD, Spierre Pure Carbon(MED), Moana Carbon(MED)/FPs: CAPT NEMO, OMER STINGRAY, BEUCHAT MUNDIAL,OMER MILLENIUM, CRESSI GARA, MARES RAZOR, PATHOS.)

Pathos fps with the c90s in whatever stiffness you like. No need to try other fins, I had my c90s with beuchat pockets and they were amazing but after looking around and trying like half the carbon fins made and a ton of foot pockets. I would have to say the pathos med/ medsoft c90s.

Get a 120cm gun if its a Euro style(handle in the back) or a 55" gun. Comfortable fins and mask/snorkel are as important as the gun. The more comfortable and relaxed in the water you are, the calmer the fish around you will be.

He really banned you for that? I have gotten multiple warnings for mentioning pursuit and just write "I am not allowed to post the name of the company on spearboard" when ever I talk about my fins. It is getting kind of old, do you think it would benefit buisiness if you just called him up and talked about it? Key West is a small community and we have learned to work things out. The spearfishing community is also very small and I believe we should stand together no matter what our differences are. I am not telling you what to do just asking a few questions. :)

Nice fish! 3 sawfish make for a helluva dive!

Yeah, I don't think I will be able to top that experience for a while. I wish I would have had a video camera when the large sawfish was smacking the bait on the bottom. I was in awe and completely oblivious to anything around me, then I noticed the cobia.

I didnt sell my gear and decided to go hunt for wahoo. So we went to catch bait and I jumped in on a school of three sawfish 8ft, 10ft, and 15ft. Then I noiticed some cobia following them and landed my first cobia ever :)

I agree with Don. I totally lost my mojo for a while shooting black grouper. I had a new shaft on and didn't notice it was bent before I ever used it. I missed about 4 easy shots. For months after that I'd be looking down the gun at a grouper and thinking, "shit, I'm going to miss again". It sucks.

I did the same thing for a while and just got used to shooting fish 3' from the tip of my 130cm gun. I think the shaft is still bent.

I like the Hatch I just foundmyself using the railgun a LOT more. My room mate needed a gun so I hooked him up. :)

I can get the Rabi cheap but that Sporasub with the monocoque construction would dominate the gulf wrecks. I was just looking for a no bs review. Dan the Pursuit gun needs a line release for me to consider it.

So my options are a 110cm Rabitech Apex Carbon w/reel...or...Sporasub One 105cm....

I love my 130 rabi but I want a shorter gun for the gulf with a reel.

I would love to know what everyone personally thinks of the Sporasub, because it is like $600 and I want to make sure.
